Chapter 64-1
Raven’s POV
+25 Points
My body must have needed the rest from the trauma it had gone through, because when my eyes finally opened again, daylight was seeping through the bedroom windows. This time I slowly rose from my lying position, worried about the pain that would come with sitting-up, but as I moved to sit up, I was
astonished that no pain was present.
Looking at the pillow next to the one I had slept on in the bed, I realized that it had gone untouched last night, leading me to wonder where Chance had spent his night, since he had generously given his bed up to me. Getting to my feet, I moved to one of the bedroom windows, gasping at the view of the sun rising from the east, as the sight was breathtaking as it rose over the top of a mountain that surrounded the
ranch.
The sound of the horses in the pasture drew my attention from the beautiful view, as my eyes finally settled on the barn, where I could see movement from within, telling me that someone was already
attending to the horses. Thinking that it must be Chance, I decided to head out to the barn, thinking that a
little fresh air was exactly what I needed right now.
Quietly, I made my way out of the house, not wanting to disturb anyone that might still be in bed, before I
made a beeline for the barn. As I neared the barn, the person inside became more visible to me, and it
didn’t take me long to realize that it wasn’t Chance, but Cash, who was tending to the horses.
Stabbing the pitchfork into the hay, his attention turned to me, as he said to me with concern, “Raven, what
are you doing? You should be in bed, allowing your wounds to heal.”
“I needed some fresh air, and besides, I feel much better already.”
Cash’s eyebrows raised as he stared at me, before he said, “How is it that you are even walking around? My grandmother told me that the doctor said you had fractured three of your ribs.”
“I am guessing the doctor was wrong.” I said back to him, amazed myself at how good I was feeling this
morning, because last night I would have agreed with the doctor about the fractured rips, but after waking up this morning, it was clear I must have just jarred them.
Walking past him, I moved into the barn, seeing a couple of horses still in their stalls, including Speed
Demon, the damn horse that tried to kill me. I couldn’t help but stare at the horse, as it looked out of its
stall directly at me, like it wanted something from me.
“I think she wants to make mends with you.” Cash says, coming up behind me, as he hands me a carrot,
making me wonder what the hell he wanted me to do with it, because if he thought that I was going to feed this beast that tried to kill me, he was nuts.
Speed Demon’s eyes moved to the carrot in my hand, and let out a nay, before she tried to reach her neck
out towards me, wanting to take the carrot from my hand. Still apprehensive of her, especially after what she had done to me, I took a step back and found my back flushed with Cash’s chest.

Placing one arm around my abdomen, he gently pulled me flush against his chest, as he wrapped his hand
around mine holding the carrot, while he leaned down and whispered into my ear, “You can’t allow her to sense your fear.” As he slowly began to raise my hand towards Speed Demon.
My heart began to race in my chest, but it wasn’t because I feared the horse, but because of the way Cash was holding me in his arms, as his warm breath tickled my neck, sending a shiver throughout my body. My
mind went back to the conversation that Mazie and I had had in the cemetery about the brothers sharing a
mate, and I found myself leaning back into his embrace, testing the waters to see if I could allow myself to
feel for them both.
