Chapter 65-1

“Care to tell me why we are at City Hall?” I asked Mazie when I met up with her outside the building, after

she called me demanding meet her here.

“Care to tell me why there is a permanent smile on your face?” She asks with sarcasm in her voice, as she

tilts her head to the side, giving me a quick smirk, like she was waiting for a thank you from me.

“If you must know, Raven finally kissed me, but thanks to your call, it was cut short. I don’t know if I should

thank you or strangle you?”

“You can thank me by getting me into the pack’s records.” She tells me as she begins to walk up the steps

to the entrance of City Hall.

Catching up to her as we entered the building, I asked her, “And why do you need me for this?”

Mazie narrowed her eyes at me before she said to me, “Because old Mrs. Doyle won’t let me in to the area

I need, because I am not of Alpha’s blood.”

“Ouch. I feel so used this morning.” I said back jokingly to her, as I moved my hand to my chest, trying to

look shocked that she was using me for my birthright, but just like Chance last night, Mazie had her own

panties in a bunch, making me wonder what the hell she was looking for.

Not wasting any time, Mazie moved straight to the front desk where Mrs. Doyle sat on her chair behind the

counter, with the same displeased look on her face, like she has had ever since I could remember.

“Alpha born, just like you asked.” Mazie said, cutting right to the chase, pointing her finger right at me, as I

looked at Mrs. Doyle trying to force a smile on my face to charm her.

Mrs. Doyle’s head turned to look at me, and it was clear that she wasn’t amused by Mazie or the charming smile I was giving her. Narrowing her eyes at me, she asks, “Don’t you kids have school right now?”

“Like I told you, I am here to do research for a paper I am doing.” Mazie now lies clearly to Mrs. Doyle, because I don’t know what kind of paper would involve research from our pack’s records.

Mrs. Doyle’s eyes move to look back at her, with a questioning look, before Mazie says to her, “Are you

going to let us in, or do I need to call my father next? He and Alpha Evan are extremely busy right now, and I don’t think they would be too happy having to take time out of their day to come down here.”

Mrs. Doyle, stiffened in her seat by Mazie’s threat of getting our fathers involved, as she begins to look between the two of us, obviously now concerned by Mazie’s idle threat. “Fine, but don’t be all day. And make sure you put everything back the way you found it.”

Mazie didn’t even wait for her to open the door for us, as she stormed in through it, heading straight to the back to where our pack records were kept, while I gave Mrs. Doyle an apologetic smile, before I followed

her.

Once inside the room, and out of Mrs. Doyle’s hearing range, I said to Mazie, “Would you now like to tell

me what this is all about?”

Mazie ignored my question as she began to walk down the long narrow isles of files, as if she knew exactly what she was looking for, while I just stood there watching her, thinking this better be good after she interrupted the breakthrough moment I was finally having with Raven.

When my phone had started to ring in my pocket back at the ranch, I had ignored it, as I couldn’t get enough of Raven’s sweet taste finally on my lips. But Mazie rang the damn thing off the hook, leading Raven to pull from the kiss, saying that I had better answer it. When I saw it was Mazie, I wanted to strangle her for interrupting the moment, but then worry filled me that something had happened to her, but

it was clear that she was just up to another one of her Sherlock Holmes moments.
