Moon Phased: The Triple Claim novel Chapter 131

Chapter 70-2

But I can’t sense a wolf within Raven. I said to him, as I wondered how it was possible for her to mask her wolf from all of us, but then it hit me.

My uncle was on to something, and Raven must be kin to this Rogue Alpha that! have been hunting, as it seems his ability was to be able to mask his scent so that he was able to avoid me all this time tracking him. If Raven had an Alpha wolf hidden within her, her wolf would be able to use this ability to hide herself from us and Raven too, until she was ready to come forward, or at least that was what I was thinking.

But then my uncle says to me, Her wolf will remain a prisoner inside of her until the moon runs through all its phases, and all three of you claim her as your mate.

My eyes narrowed as I looked at him, wondering how he knew this, as it seemed pretty specific what needed to be done to release her wolf. Needing answers, I asked him, How is it that you are so sure this will unlock her wolf?

My uncle at that moment rose from his seat and moved to a small window that overlooked the side of the cabin where Chase had been hiding in the darkness of the forest covering, making me wonder if he had sensed Chase lurking around the cabin once again.

As he remained staring out the window, he finally said to me, I know this because your father and I have already done it with Raven’s mother.

Shock took over me, as I sat there just staring at him, more confused than anything, as the words, How? I thought she denied you.Rolled from my thoughts to my lips before I could stop myself from asking.

That she sure did, and trust me, I paid dearly for it, and all for what? In the end, she took off and left my brother, unable to handle the truth of who her father was, especially after she witnessed him murdering half our friends right in front of her.

So, you forcefully claimed her without her permission?I now ask as I rose to my own feet, wondering what kind of monster would do such a thing.

Turning to face me, my uncle’s eyes narrowed as he stared me straight in the eyes, before he said, I did what I thought was best for our pack, but most of all, I did it for your father. It’s not like Carla even knew what I was doing. For all she knew, I had just left a permanent hickey on her neck. Well, that was until I unlocked her wolf within her.

Shaking my head at him, disgusted that he would do such a thing, even though I honestly thought about doing it myself to Raven, but never would have gone through with it, I said to him, But you claimed her without her consent.”

My uncle stepped away from the window, as his eyes began to darken, while I was beginning to get the sense that he didn’t like being called out for his wrongful actions. Letting out a low growl, he took another step towards me, as he said to me, I did what was best for our pack and your father. I will let you know that I may have marked her as my mate, but I restrained myself from consummating the union between us. If that makes you sleep better at night. Plus, does it even really matter what I did all those years ago, especially now since Carla is no longer here with us?

I couldn’t believe what he was saying, as he was trying to dismiss his actions with her death, but what he did was wrong on so many levels. Whether he consummated the union or not, it was still done without

Garla knowing exactly what she was signing up for.

Feeling the primal need as an Alpha to protect those that are too weak to protect themselves, I stepped forward, placing myself nose to nose with my uncle, as I said to him, What you did was wrong, and I can’t believe that you stand here before me justifying your actions with her death. Did you ever for once think that maybe it was your actions that drove her away?

My uncle let out another growl, as he closed what little distance remained between us, before he said to me, I did what needed to be done, and I would do it all over again if I had too. Being the Alpha of the pack comes with responsibilities, and those responsibilities need to be placed above all else, even if it goes against your precious morals. I wouldn’t be so quick to judge me, as you will soon be walking in my shoes, being forced between duties to your pack, and what you feel is morally right. Only once you are forced to make that decision do you have the right to stand before me and judge me.”

I will sacrifice myself before I do that.”

Once again, my uncle lets out a low growl, and his nose presses up against my own, as he says to me, You don’t think that I made sacrifices? Look at my face. Carla was able to make the choice to leave this town because of me. Plus, for the last twentytwo years, I have lived alone, allowing your father his happiness. All this time, while your father has been playing Alpha, I have been strategizing and preparing to put an end to all of this for good. So, don’t stand before me judging me, unless you know the sacrifices I had to make.

I didn’t budge, as I continued to stare into his eyes, wondering if these were all sacrifices on his behalf or if it was because of the wrong choices that he had made. Either way, by the looks of things, he and my father had failed all those years ago to protect the pack and their mate, something I planned on not failing at like they had. Josie’s death was one too many lives lost to the rogue Alpha, and I planned on not allowing one more death to happen on my watch.

You and I are not the same.” I told my uncle as I took a step back from him, done with this conversation, now realizing why my wolf was hesitant about him/

Honorable he claimed to be, but from what I could see there was no honor in what he had done.

Turning my back on my uncle, I moved to leave the cabin, now with the knowledge that I had sought, as I began to realize what needed to be done. But as I stepped outside the cabin door, I heard a familiar howl echo from the valley below, telling me that Chase was in trouble.

I didn’t even hesitate, as I jumped off the porch, shifting into my wolf, as I mind linked my brother, Hold on, brother. I am coming.
