Chapter 71-1
Raven’s POV

Evan’s idea of me staying behind with his mother couldn’t have been a better idea, as I welcomed the alone time with her to finish the conversation the two of us were having last night before Chance had interrupted.
As she gently removed the bandage from around my ribs, I asked her, “You told me last night that my mother survived a rogue attack too. Was it also an Alpha rogue that attacked her?”
Mrs. Ryder continued to remove my bandage, trying to make herself look focused on her task at hand, while avoiding my question. Once the bandage was completely removed, she took a step back, as she tilted her head curiously to the side, while she stared at my now bare flesh that laid beneath the bandage.
Personally, I would have thought for sure that there would be a bruise or some kind of visual evidence of the attack and the pain that I had endured from it. But now as I looked down at what she was looking at, I could only see my normal smooth caramel flesh, with not a single indication that I was attacked yesterday.
I looked up at Mrs. Ryder, just in time to see her eyebrows furrow together, as she finally says to me, “It seems you are an extremely fast healer. Have you always been this way?”
Looking back, I honestly don’t remember one instance where I had gotten hurt, to be able to answer her question. Come to think about it, I couldn’t even remember being sick growing up. The only time I remember seeing a doctor was when I had to receive my yearly check–up as a child, but other than that and my short time spent in the juvenile mental institution after the accident, I really had no medical history.
“I couldn’t tell you. I never really got hurt as a child, and as for sickness, my mother always told me that I had an amazing immune system.” I explained to Mrs. Ryder, as it was the best answer that I could give her, but looking down at my flesh, I knew even with the best of immune systems there was no way in hell that someone could heal this damn fast.
“Let’s take a look at your arm, shall we?” She said as she began to unwrap the bandage from it, and I knew that there had to be some kind of wound still present from the rogue wolf’s claws, as I will never forget the amount of blood that seeped from the deep gashes in my arm.

Tilting my head down and to the side, I watched as she removed the last of the bandage, revealing my now slightly pink–toned flesh beneath its covering, but not a single gash, cut or stitch. I began to wonder what kind of voodoo bullshit this town doctor had done to me, because there was no way this kind of healing should be humanly possible.
Dropping the bandage on the countertop, Mrs. Ryder takes a step back, assessing what was left of the wound, before she finally says to me, “Everything seems to be healing really well. By this time tomorrow, your wounds should be completely healed.”
Moving my hand to my arm, I began to move my arm around, looking at it, trying to see a single mark on it to indicate where all the blood had come from, but I couldn’t see a damn slice or puncture wound on it.” What the hell?” I said under my breath, as I continued to stare at it, not understanding how this was possible.

Opening a jar of what looked like homemade salve, Mrs. Ryder takes a generous amount from it, applying It directly to my arm, as she says, “Certain herbs and roots can provide unbelievable healing abilities. Your body seems to be responding very well to these ones.”
In silence, I just sat there watching her rebandage my arm, as I tried to wrap my head around how this could even be possible. It had been less than twenty–four hours, and I barely had a mark left on my body to prove that I had been attacked. Hell, last night + could have sworn I had broken or fractured every one of my ribs, but this morning, there was not a single ounce of pain coming from them, now having me questioning my mental state, which I have been doing a lot lately.
