Chapter 78-1
Raven’s POV
Even though our little drive was somewhat what I needed to distract my mind, I knew all good things must come to an end, especially when I looked down at the oversized black tee shirt I was still wearing. Realizing that I had miraculously recovered from the attack, and that I needed a change of clothes, we headed to my grandmother’s house as the evening was coming to an end, while night was soon going to fall upon us.
Pulling off the main road, Cash drove my car slowly up the lane, making me instantly notice how smooth the lane was. With everything that had happened, I had totally forgotten that he and Chance had worked all day on fixing my grandmother’s lane, but driving up it right now, it was clear just how much work and effort the two had put into fixing it for me.
As Cash brought my car to a halt outside my grandmother’s house, and the two of us began to exit it, Cash froze and yelled, “Wait!” to me, just as I was stepping out of the car. I watched as he took a deep inhale of the evening breeze, before his eyes focused on the far–left corner of the opening in the forest where my grandmother’s house sat.
His whole happy–go–lucky demeanor at that moment changed as he said to me, “The rogue
wolves have been here.”
“What? How do you know that?” I asked him, thinking this was some kind of messed–up joke on his behalf, because there was no way in hell that he could know this by just stepping outside the car. If this was his way of scaring me to return to his house with him tonight, it
wasn’t funny.
“Rogue wolves have a very distinctive smell, one that you will never forget after encountering it.” He explains to me as he moves to my side, making me think back to the cemetery, remembering the God–awful smell that reeked from the wolf that attacked me.
Lifting my own head up into the evening breeze, I tried to smell what he was smelling myself, and at first, I didn’t smell a damn thing but the potent scent of the pine trees that outlined my grandmother’s property. I was almost about to give up when the wind shifted slightly in our direction, and sure enough, I could smell the hideous foul scent I had smelt from the rogue wolf in the cemetery. It was faint, but it was definitely present.
“We should get you out of here.” Cash said as he tried to steer me to get back into my car, clearly worried about my safety, but my own safety wasn’t my priority at that moment.
“No, I am not leaving.” I said to him, as I pushed past him, heading straight to the front door of my grandmother’s house, needing to make sure that she was okay.

+25 Points
At first, I raced towards my grandmother’s house, but when I got to the steps that led onto the porch, I froze in fear of what I might find inside. Even though my grandmother and I weren’t that close, she was the only living relative that I had left, and I didn’t want to see anything bad happen to her, especially since she had been so kind to take me in.
“Wait here, I will check inside.” Cash said to me, but I grabbed a hold of his hand to stop him, because there was no way in hell, I was going to stay outside alone waiting for him to see what was going on inside.
“No, we stay together.” I told him, as I moved back in front of him, and slowly and cautiously began to ascend the steps to the front porch.
Unfortunately, the steps were another thing in desperate need of repair, and as I put my weight down on them to make my way onto the porch they eerily creaked beneath my feet. I froze once again, this time for only a few seconds, as I tried to collect myself, while I listened for any signs of life inside the house. At that moment, my heart began to race in my chest, as the anticipation of what lay behind the door was too much for me to bear, with the
thought that something bad could have happened to my grandmother.
