Chapter 81-1
Cash’s POV
Raven passed out before we even hit the highway that led back to Beaumont, and when we arrived at the ranch, I didn’t have it in my heart to wake her. The past couple of days have been hell for her, and to be honest, I don’t know how much sleep she has been getting since the first attack in the girls‘ locker room.
Gently, I removed her from the car, and carried her up the stairs, straight to my room, laying her in my bed, just where I had dreamed her to be since the day that I met her. But unfortunately, I couldn’t take the time to snuggle up to her at this moment, as I needed to head downstairs and talk to my brothers about what I had discovered at the hospital, and about the decision I had made without them.
Pulling a blanket up over Raven’s petite body, I stared down at her, noticing the dark circles that were forming around her eyes. It was clear that since she had arrived here, life had taken an even bigger toll on her, and my brothers and I needed to do whatever it took to alleviate that stress from her life. The way I now see it, it was a matter of life and death that we convinced her to stay with us, as the doctor made it pretty clear to me that her Alpha wolf’s side left undeveloped could ultimately lead to killing her. That’s, of course, if she carried the gene, but I couldn’t see how she couldn’t.
Removing a strand of hair from her face, I bent down and placed a soft kiss on her forehead, before I turned the lamp off beside the bed, and headed downstairs to address the new situation we had on our hands with my brothers. Heading downstairs, I found my brothers along with Mazie sitting in the living room, all gathered in a circle like they had been talking.
Chance looked a hell of a lot better since I saw him last night. As for Chase, he too looked better, but it was clear that he was still battling the wolfsbane, but it looked to be bearable to him today. Thankfully, Jessica was long gone, and I had to wonder how and who had pried her from Chase’s side.
Mazie was the first to notice me entering the living room, as her head turned to directly look at me. Her eyes narrowed, as if to give me an evil glare, before her head turned away from me, not saying a single word or acknowledging me. I knew that she was still upset with me for not believing that Raven was one of us, and I truly regret it right now because I now know she was right.
“I assume Raven is upstairs in your room?” Chance asks without turning to look at me, as if he too was upset with me, making me wonder if something happened while I was gone.
“She had fallen asleep on the way home from the hospital. I couldn’t bear to wake her.”

“Good, because we have a lot to discuss, I think it is best if you take a seat.” He tells me as Chase’s eyes move to look at me, and I seriously wonder what the hell is going on here, as Chase seemed for once to be in the loop, and I wasn’t.
I took a seat on the lonely rocking chair in the living room, while the three of them remained quiet, waiting for me to take a seat. Once I was seated, Chance finally continued by saying, “It turns out that Mazie was right. Raven is one of us and has the blood of an Alpha in her veins.”
Sitting there, unfazed by what he had said, because I already knew this information, I waited for him now to elaborate on how he came about this information, hoping that it may help me with figuring out how strong this Alpha’s blood in Raven truly was. But instead of elaborating, Chance’s eyes narrowed as he stared at me, as his head tilted to the side, before he said to me, “Why do I get the feeling you already know this? Have you been keeping something from us?”
