Chapter 84-1

Chase’s POV

Claim

Thankfully, Raven’s ass had fallen asleep not too far into the drive to the hospital, as I didn’t know if I could take two whole hours of her bitching at me about my driving. I have to admit, the girl had a raging fire inside of her, one that I don’t think I could even put out, if I wanted to, but the truth was, I didn’t want to put her fire out, I just wanted her to go back to California.

There was a reason why her mother had left here all those years ago, and since her mother had left, the town, for the most part, had been peaceful. But now that Raven was here, all hell had broken loose again, and I feared that more pack memberslives were at stake, including her own, and I couldn’t allow her to die at the hands of a rogue just like my mother.

What I couldn’t understand was what the Rogue Alpha King’s infatuation was with Raven, and why he had only shown himself when it came to her. Both times he had her in his grasp, but neither of those times did he lay a finger on her to hurt her, which didn’t make any bit of sense to me, because he was clearly hunting her.

Unfortunately, I believed there was a lot to this story that not only my father was hiding, but also Ms. Wilson, who I now didn’t believe was so innocent. All these years she has led us to believe that she was just human, but in reality, that couldn’t be further from the truth, but then again, there’s a possibility that she doesn’t even know herself.

Thankfully, with Raven fast asleep, I was able to make up some time, getting her to the hospital under the two hours, hopefully shutting her up about me wasting time with her back at the ranch. But as I pulled my jeep into a parking space outside the hospital, Raven began to stir as her phone once again began to go off in her pocket. This time when she stirred awake, her eyes weren’t drooping so heavily, as she thankfully got almost a couple more hours of sleep.

Taking in her surroundings before she answered the call, she didn’t even bother when answering the phone to give a formal greeting, but instead, she said to the person on the other side of the call, “I just arrived, and I will be inside in just a minute.Telling me that it had to be the hospital calling her once again, but knew if they were calling her something had to be wrong.

But thankfully they didn’t update her grandmother’s condition to her over the phone, as Raven unbuckles her seatbelt, turning to glance at me for just a second, as she says to me, Thank you.As if she really meant it, before jumping out of my jeep and racing to the front doors of the hospital, leaving me sitting there alone, questioning whether I should accompany her into the hospital.

To say that I hated hospitals was an understatement, and, thankfully, I haven’t been inside one since my mother had passed, but staring at it right now was bringing back unwanted old memories of a very painful time in my life.

I was finding myself at war with myself, as there was a part of me that thought I had done enough by driving Raven here, but of course, there was the mate bond tugging on my conscience, telling me that I needed to remain by Raven’s side to help take her pain away, like she had done with me when I needed her the most. Needless to say, my conscience won, and I found myself getting out of the jeep, as I watched Raven disappear through the automatic double doors.

Making my way across the parking lot, I headed straight towards the front entrance, hoping that I could

eatch up with Raven, not wanting to get lost in the hospital looking for her, because I was now way out of Thy comfort zone. As I move to the front doors, and they begin to open, I turn my head to look back over my shoulder to make sure that I have locked my jeep, but by doing this, I run smackdab into someone.
