Chapter 86-1

Chase’s POV

Knowing this doctor was a complete fraud, I knew that I had to get Raven out of here before he returned with another injection of Goddess knows what. For all I know, he could be using this situation to slowly poison her, which is what he could have done to Ms. Wilson when Cash left her here in his care.

As if Raven could sense the dire situation through our mate bond, she began once again to stir, and I quickly moved back to the couch, trying to get her to come around. But Raven was still too groggy from whatever she was injected with, and I knew if I was going to get her the hell out of here, I was going to have to carry her.

Just as I moved to pick her up, the door to the office opened, and in walked the doctor. My eyes immediately went to his hands, and in the one I noticed not just one but two syringes, making me wonder who he was planning on using the second one on.

“Is everything okay?” He asks as he shuts the door behind him, and I watch as he locks the door from the inside, like that was going to stop me from getting Raven the hell out of here.

I wanted to tell him that he was a lying son of a bitch, but I kept that to myself to try and leave peacefully without making a scene for Raven’s safety. So instead, I just said to him, “There has been a change in plans. My brothers are on their way here, and they think it is best to move Raven to one of our own hospitals.”

I watched the genuine look of concern on his face begin to fade, while I noticed his hand clinch around the syringes, popping the top of one of them off, as if he was getting ready to use it as a line of defense against me. The whole plan of peacefully leaving this office at that moment went out the door, as it was clear that this damn impostor was going to foolishly put up a fight against me.

Laying Raven back down on the couch, I stood to my full height, as I stepped between her and the so–called doctor, dropping my façade, as I said to him, “So what little game are you trying to play here, Doc?”

A nervous chuckle comes from the doctor’s lips, before he says to me, “It’s nothing against you. It’s just a job I was hired to do.”

My eyes kept an eye on the syringe in his hand, as I said to him, “A job you say. Are you even a doctor?”

A chuckle once again came from his lips, but this time it wasn’t a nervous chuckle, but more of a mischievous one. “It depends on whose standards. The person that hired me seems to think that I could get the job done, and thus far I have delivered.”

“Well, this is the first time you have been dealing with me, and I hate to burst your bubble, but your time playing doctor is over.”

A devious laughter began to echo through the small office from his lips, like he found what I said to be funny. Finally, his laughter stops as he gives me a good look over, before he says, “I don’t believe the wolfsbane is completely out of your system yet to be making threats like that.”

My eyes narrowed as I glared at him, realizing there was only one way that he would have known about the wolfsbane and that would have to be if he was the one responsible for it. The truth was, I was still

feeling slight aftereffects of it, but it was nothing that would hinder my ability to rock his world. I was a damn Alpha, for Goddess’s sake, and if he thought a little wolfsbane was going to keep me down for days, he had another thing coming.

Showing my dominance as an Alpha, I let out a growl as I took a step towards him, all while I said to him,” I can ensure you that it’s going to take more than that to keep me down.”
