Moon Phased: The Triple Claim novel Chapter 164

Chapter 87-1

Raven’s POV

Clain

A scream finally radiated from my lungs as I fully came to, but it wasn’t from the pain of losing my grandmother, but from the feeling like I was being burned alive from whatever the nurse had injected me with. I had been sedated before, but this was definitely not that, as I could hear everything going on around me, and felt like I was a prisoner to my own body.

The seat belt dug deep into my shoulder, as Chase brought his jeep to an abrupt halt alongside the road. My eyes slowly adjusted to the daylight, while I tried to stop myself from screaming, but it was as if I was leaving out all the pain I was holding inside of me at once.

I half waited to hear Chase tell me to simmer it down, but to my surprise he shut the jeep off and got out and quickly moved around the vehicle to open my door, while he said to me, Let it all out.As if he knew what my screams were stemming from.

In a way, I think he knew what I was going through, as it was clear that this doctor was involved with his and Chance’s poisoning yesterday, and by the sounds of it, he was also the party responsible for my grandmother’s death.

Shit, I wish I hadn’t just thought about that, as my emotions felt like they just rushed back at me like a tidal wave, making tears instantly begin to pour from my eyes, while my screams grew louder. As if the pain wasn’t enough from the burning sensation inside of me, I just added on the realization that I was now really an orphan of the state, due to the fact that I had no other living relatives, except for maybe this socalled uncle of mine that I never heard neither my mother nor grandmother talk about.

Chase, obviously seeing that I was losing it, unbuckled my seatbelt, helping me out of the jeep, and I instantly doubled over as my breathing became irregular. Grabbing a handful of my hair, Chase pulled it away from my face, removing my veil of hair that was hiding what I was sure was the ugly cries.

Honestly, it wasn’t until I felt his hand on my back, caressing little circles along its curvature, did I feel what was left of the burning pain disappear, leaving me to realize that there truly was some kind of connection between myself and the Ryder brothers. Not just any kind of connection, but one that was much stronger than just a normal bond between two people, or, in my case, four.

Once again, it was crazy that I was even entertaining this idea, but here I was with the prie brother that had proven time and time again that he wanted nothing to do with me, and I couldn’t shake this want, or should I say desire to be closer to him.

Taking a deep breath, I collected myself, knowing that Chase’s kindness was only going to last so long before the other personality took over, telling me that I needed to pull my shit together. But as I pull myself together and move to stand up fully, Chase says to me, Take it easy. You have been through a lot todayMaking me wonder if the doctor had injected him with something, because this was definitely not the Chase I was used to.

I think I am good.I said to him, as I took a step away from his embrace, doublechecking that it was truly Chase standing behind me, because he seemed a bit too caring and nice to me.

Wiping the tears away from my eyes and getting my bearings, I looked around to see that we were alongside a road, thankfully back in the country. Never in a million years did I ever think I would think that way, but after the experience we just had in the small city at the hospital, I felt safer in the country.

My eyes then moved to Chase, as he was just staring at me with what looked like uncertainty, making me realize that I needed to let him know how much I appreciated what he had done for me. I know that being

with me right now is the last thing you want to be doing, but if it’s any consolation, thank you. Honestly, I think that I would be dead right now if I had gone alone. I don’t understand why that doctor killed my grandmother and was trying to kill me too, along with you and your brothers. How did you piece it all together so quickly?
