Chapter 88-1
Cash’s POV
Claim
Chance led Mazie and I clear to the edge of my family’s ranch, land that none of us were venturous enough to freely take on, as the mountainsides were lined with loose bedrock that could give beneath your feet at any time. I watched Mazie’s wolf struggle in front of me, and I did my best to stay out of her wolf’s way, knowing that her and her wolf were still at odds with me, but I couldn’t help but stop her when she began to lose her footing in front of me.
As her wolf dug her paws deep within the bedrock, gaining traction once again, her wolf turned slightly and gave me a low growl, and I knew that it was going to take some time for Mazie to forgive me for not having faith and trust in her. What I couldn’t understand was why and how she had forgiven Chance so easily, but then again, the two of them were not as close as the two of us were, leading her to be more upset that I refused to believe her.
Halfway up the mountainside, I began to question where the hell my brother was taking us, but I remained silent until a small cabin nestled into the side of the mountain came into view. I had patrolled our lands now for months, but never was I aware that a cabin existed this far out, leading me to wonder who on
Earth lived out here.
“Wait here.” Chance said to Mazie and I, as he shifted into his human form, making his way onto the porch, leaving us standing in the small opening on the mountainside alone.
Now that Mazie and I were finally alone, I took this as my opportunity to give her a real apology, one that she obviously deserved from me. I had royally messed up, not solely because I didn’t listen to her, but because I didn’t have faith and trust in her when I should have.
Shifting back into my human form, Mazie followed suit, and I quickly went to work apologizing by saying, ” Mazie, I am sorry that I didn’t believe you. I should never have questioned your loyalty and knew that there had to be a reason why you did what you did.”
Mazie gave me the cold shoulder, as she kept her back turned to me, while she stared at the front door of the cabin, waiting for Chance to return like she didn’t even hear me apologizing to her. It was clear that I was going to have to do more than just apologize to her, as the damage I had done to our relationship was far worse than I had expected.

Just when I was about to take a second shot at apologizing to Mazie, Chance made his way out of the cabin, but he wasn’t alone when he exited, as our father looked like he was following him. But as the man that looked like our father turned his head towards Mazie and me, I quickly realized that the man following Chance wasn’t our father, as a long scar ran down the side of his face.
Taken back by his resemblance to our father, I took a step back, realizing there was only one explanation for who this man could be. It was crazy to think that we had been lied to our whole lives about our uncle, but there was no other explanation for what was now standing straight in front of me.
Chance cleared his throat, and my head turned slightly to look at him, while my eyebrows furrowed, as I had to wonder how he had discovered that our uncle was alive. Plus, I had to wonder how long he knew our uncle had been living right under our noses on our lands, and why he had kept it from us until now.
Before Chance could say a word, Mazie stepped forward, greeting our uncle with respect by saying, “Alpha Ethan.” While she lowered her head to him, as I began to wonder if she knew that he was alive too or if she
