Our uncle’s eyes immediately moved to Mazie, as I was sure that it had been a while since he was properly greeted by the looks of things. “Beta Alex’s daughter, I presume.” He said to her, and Mazie quickly nodded her head, as if she was thrilled that he knew who she was.

“Your father and I were good friends growing up. It’s nice to see that our Moon Goddess has gifted him with a mate and a family.” He then said to her, as his eyes moved to look at me for

the first time.

Mazie must have noticed the direction that he was staring in because she stepped to the side, allowing my uncle to get a better look at me. “So, this is my second–born nephew.” He says nonchalantly, like it was no big deal meeting me for the first time, making me wonder if he had been watching over us all these years.

But none of that mattered to me, because I felt like I had been betrayed by my whole entire family about his existence, making me wonder what else they had been lying to me about. Ever since Raven had arrived here, skeletons had been coming out of everyone’s closets, and I was beginning to believe that my whole existence here was built off a lie.

Feeling resentment not just towards him, but also towards my father and everyone else that had been lying to me, I skipped the family reunion with him and went straight to why we were here. “Chance tells me that you may know a way to save our mate by helping her wolf come

forward. Is that true?”

Our uncle turns to look at Chance, as his eyebrows furrow, before he says, “And why is it that you think that I would know a way?”

“Call it a hunch or an inkling, but I believe that was what you were trying to do with Raven’s mother all those years ago. Unfortunately, it backfired somehow on you, and I believe you now know why.” Chance tells him, and our uncle gives out a growl of frustration, especially from being called out like Chance had just done to him.

“It’s not that simple. I have told you that already. Raven has to accept all three of you as her mate for it to work. Unfortunately, her mother was not as accepting of me as she was with my brother, and from what I understand, you are having the same issue with your mate.”

“So that we are all clear about what you are saying is that the only way to draw her wolf out, is for her to accept all three of us as her mates?” I asked him, thinking if it came down to a life–or–death situation for Raven then Chase would come around, because even though he didn’t want us to believe or see that he cared about her, I had seen glimpses of it yesterday when he held her in his arms.

Mazie shook her head, as she decided to put her two senses in on the matter, by saying, ” Raven will never agree to that. Chase has been so mean to her since she got here, and she thinks he is an asshole of the highest standards.”

“I have to disagree.” I said once again, going against my friend, and I am probably going to regret it, especially when Mazie turns to glare at me, but she wasn’t there yesterday to see Raven and Chase together like I had been. Hell, I was the only one other than our

grandmother that had witnessed it, and I honestly thought at that moment that Chase had come around. That was until Jessica showed up.

With all eyes on me, I knew that I had to elaborate, but instead of going into great detail, I just said to them, “Yesterday I witnessed the two of them bonding, and I can assure you, over time they will both come around.”

Mazie began to laugh at me, and I should have known that with her being still upset with me, that she was going to challenge what I had just said. “Bond? Are you sure that is what you witnessed, because after what he did to her in the janitor’s closet at school, she will never be able to forgive him.”

Shrugging my shoulders, I said to her, “People change.” And I realized quickly that it was the wrong thing to say, as Mazie instantly rolled her eyes at me, before she said, “Well I guess that is one thing we can agree with.”

“Enough!” My Uncle Ethan said, drawing all our attention towards him, before he said, “You all sound like a bunch of babies. I guess this is why my brother said that you weren’t ready to handle the damn truth, nor could you deal with it.”

I wanted to argue with him that we could handle it, but I realized he was right. If I couldn’t get along with my best friend right now, how on Earth was I supposed to save my mate’s life?

“I’m sorry.” Finally came from my lips, and I honestly don’t know who it was meant for, as I was sorry to my uncle for acting this way, but most of all, I was sorry to Mazie for not trusting her.

Unfortunately, my apology did little to suffice my uncle, as he turned his back to all of us, while he leaped off the porch, shifting into his massive black Alpha wolf, before he took off up the side of the mountain with ease.

We all just stood there in silence, watching him disappear from our sight, as we all realized what he had just said to be true. We had been coddled our whole lives by what was left of our family, only allowing us to mature so much, as I was now sure that they feared that history was going to repeat itself. Unfortunately, our father had done wrong by us, as he should have prepared us for what they dealt with all those years ago, on top of what we might have to

deal with taking a mate.

We were not only not prepared to deal with the rogue situation, but we now had Raven’s health to deal with, as I feared the worst could happen to her, if we weren’t successful in bringing her wolf forward. She had pretty much accepted me and Chance, but she still was on her defense with Chase, but I had faith in our Moon Goddess’s choice of mate for us.

Although I couldn’t speak for Raven’s mother, I could for Raven, and she was one of the strongest women I knew who had overcome so much in such a short period of time. I had faith that we could all come to an agreement, despite my father’s and my uncle’s thoughts about the situation. All we needed to do was sit down and have a heart–to–heart, letting everything out on the table, including what we truly were, as it was clear that Raven was part of our world too, proving my father and uncle wrong about all of us.
