Chapter 89-1
Cash’s POV
The three of us took off back to the ranch, without fighting it out on the side of the mountain, because that was the last thing we wanted my uncle to hear us doing. I was sure that he had disappeared just enough that he could be out of our sight but not out of our hearing range to see what we would do while not in his presence.
The thing was, the three of us normally got along, but this thing with Raven had driven a wedge between us, a wedge that I needed to remove because I hated this cold shoulder shit Mazie was giving me. Mazie was not just my Beta, but she was also my best friend, and the two of us really needed to get this fight out of our systems and move on, because I was starting to feel lost without her by my side as my comrade.
As for my uncle, I was still in shock that he was alive, but honestly, right now, nothing would surprise me, especially with all the shit we had going on around here. Beaumont seemed to be turning into the twilight zone, and every day that passes brings another messed–up
scenario with it.
It was crazy to think just days ago, my biggest issue was winning Raven’s heart and try to explain to her what we were, which it still was, but never in a gazillion years did I think that we would be uncovering secrets about our two families. The biggest surprise of them all to me was the fact that Raven was one of us, and that Mazie had been right, but I had to wonder why all the evidence pointing to this at City Hall had been either destroyed or hidden. I was sure Mazie didn’t leave one stone unturned there looking for proof, and if there was anything in our pack records, she would have found it.
Honestly, I had to wonder what the elders were hiding, and why they thought it was important to hide the Wilson’s bloodline from us all. Was their history that bad, that they thought it was important to just erase it, and allow Ms. Wilson to spend her remaining days in that small, dilapidated house? When in reality, she should have been living like a descendant of the original Alpha of this pack.
My heart was heavy thinking about the poor conditions that she had been living in all these years, and that the pack had failed to take care of her, especially my family, who I now knew were to be her caretakers. I made a vow to myself at that moment that when she came home from the hospital, I was going to make sure that I made it a point to look after her even if her days were now numbered.
One thing I knew for sure was that Raven was always going to be cared for and taken care of, and that I was vowing until my last breath, that I would be there to protect and provide for her like a mate should, especially an Alpha to his Luna, regardless of what Raven chooses.

With the ranch house now in my sight, all I wanted to do was get back to her, and hold her in my arms, like I wanted to when we had arrived home hours ago, but that obviously didn’t happen. Instead, Chance took me on a wild goose chase to get information from our so–called dead uncle, who wasn’t even caring enough to stick around and help us.
It was clear that he thought that we were a lost cause, but I had other news for him. My brothers and I are different than him and our father. We may not always see eye to eye on things, but the one thing about us, and I was sure of, was when we needed each other, we would be there for each other, no matter what the situation was.
When we made it back to the house, I quickly shifted and pulled on a pair of basketball shorts, before I headed straight into the house to head upstairs to my room to check on Raven, but as I stepped into the house, my grandmother stopped me.
