Moon Phased: The Triple Claim novel Chapter 182

Chapter 96-1

Chance’s POV

Knowing that Chase had Raven in his arms, I cautiously moved towards Ms. Wilson’s lifeless body was sitting on her favorite recliner chair, as I wondered how the hell her body had been removed from the hospital and brought to her house. The way her body was placed, it was as if whoever had brought her here wanted it to look like she had passed from natural causes, but we all knew that wasn’t the case.

“Raven, why is your dead grandmother still sitting in your living room?” Raven’s California girlfriend asks, as the male stands behind her all wide-eyed, looking even more shocked than the female.

To be honest, I was just as shocked as they were to see her here, but after the last couple of days I have had, nothing should really shock me. Unfortunately, I knew that I had to call my father and the pack in on this one, as I was now dealing with the remains of Raven’s grandmother, and they needed to be peacefully laid to rest.

Looking over my other shoulder, I could see this was way too much for Raven to handle, especially with everything that she had been through today, as I was sure it was like losing her grandmother all over again seeing her body lying there.

“Cash, get everyone out of here and take them back to the ranch.” I told him, knowing that none of them could be there when our father and pack arrived, because I was sure this was going to be a thorough investigation, and we didn’t need the outsiders here disrupting it.

Cash looked at me with a questioning look on his face, before he used our mind link, asking me, “Even the humans?”

I tried to hold back the growl that was simmering in my chest, because I didn’t care for the idea either, but what other choice at that moment did we have? It wasn’t like Beaumont had a five-star hotel that we could get them a room, forcing me to have to make a decision to take them to our place for the night.

Besides, right now, Beaumont obviously wasn’t the safest place to be, and I didn’t need authorities from California out here snooping around if something happened to one of them while they were here visiting.

I

“What other choice do we have?” I simply said back to him, as moved to take Raven from his arms, pulling her into an embrace, as I leaned down and whispered into her ear, “Go back to the ranch with Cash and I will call the authorities and my father. I will make sure that your grandmother’s remains are respectfully handled.”

“Who would do such a thing?” She asked me as she tried to hold back her tears, and I could see she was doing her best to try and hold it together in front of her friends.

It had been an extremely long day, especially for her, filled with emotional heartache along with someone trying to kill her once again, and it was clear that it was catching up to her all at once now. I wish that I could just take away all her pain, and make all of this go away, but I knew I didn’t have the power to do so.

Unfortunately, I felt like we still had a long road ahead of us, as every time I think we are getting closer to finding out the truth behind what is happening here, something like this happens, sending us straight back to square one.

“I don’t know, but I promise you, I will get to the bottom of it. Just quickly grab some clothes, and go home

with Cash, and I will be home as soon as I take care of this.” I told her, as Mazie reached her hand out Towards Raven, wanting to help her back to her room to grab some of her belongings.

I stood there and watched Raven move back to the small hallway with Mazie, as Chase stepped outside to check the perimeter to make sure we were safe for the time being. When Raven disappeared from my sight, I turned back around to notice that Raven’s female friend that had tased me was no longer standing beside the male friend, making me quickly scan the roorn to see her now beside Ms. Wilson’s corpse.
