Chapter 96-2
“What the hell are you doing?” I asked her as I moved to her side, not wanting her to touch anything, because at this point everything was evidence.
Ignoring my question, she asked me, “What time of the day did she pass?” As she leaned over Ms. Wilson’s body, taking a closer look at something, making me wonder if she had found something
I had to think about it for a second, because I wasn’t there at the hospita! when it supposably happened Early afternoon.” I finally told her, questioning the answer I had given her, as I moved in closer, wanting t see what she was looking at.
“That’s odd. I would put her death more recently. There’s no decomposing of the tissue of the skin, and she still has her color, leading me to believe that she still has oxygen in her bloodstream.” She explained to me, as I turned to look at her, wondering how the hell she knew all this.
Staring at her, I furrowed my eyebrows, as I gave her a questioning look. She shrugs her shoulders as she moves to stand to her full height, as she says to me, “Advance Biology and Chemistry. You could say I an a science geek, but I like to look at it more, as I am intrigued with the way our body functions and works, life and in death.”
“Interesting.” Is all I said back to her, because, to tell the truth, I had no clue how the chemistry of our bod works, especially that of a wolf, and I knew that any scientist would have a field day with just a mere drop of our blood.
Knowing that Ms. Wilson was one of us, I knew that I couldn’t have Brains here looking too closely at her, and I needed to get them all the hell out of here, before our little secret was outed.
Thankfully, Raven and Mazie reappeared in the living room with a suitcase this time packed, as it was clear she needed more than just a one-night’s worth of clothes. In all honesty, I wish she would have just packed her whole damn room up, and we could just burn this place to the ground, but I still thought that this place held answers, and I wasn’t going to let one stone unturn to find them.
Moving to Raven, I take the suitcase from her hand, as I try and block the view of her grandmother’s body, while I steer her towards the front door, along with her friends and Mazie. When we make our way outside I tell Mazie to ride along with Raven’s friends to ensure that they make it to the ranch safely, before I help Raven into the front seat, while Cash throws her suitcase in the bed of the truck.

Between Raven’s tear-stained cheeks and blood-shot eyes, I just wanted to rip someone’s head off, for making my mate feel this way. Her pain felt like it was my own, and I just wanted to make it all better for her, but I knew there was nothing I could do to take it away. All I could do was find the person responsible for this and make them pay for the pain that they had caused my mate.
“I will probably be late, so stay with Cash tonight.” I told her, not wanting her to be alone, because she needed to be with one of her mates more than ever, and I knew if any of us could soothe her pain, it would be Cash.
Raven nodded her head at me, agreeing to stay with him, before she reached for me, taking me into a tight embrace, while she whispered to me, “I don’t know what I would do without you and your family.”
Instantly, I tightened my hold around Raven, grateful to hear the words coming from her lips, but sad to know the reasoning why they had come from them. Never did I want to force Raven into feeling like she
