Moon Phased: The Triple Claim novel Chapter 184

Chapter 90

had nowhere else to turn to I wanted her to want to be a part of my world because she chose to be, but Tight now it felt like she was being forced upon it, making it unfair for her to make her own choices.

I was beginning to wonder whose side this rogue Alpha wolf was on, as it was clear that he was pushing her right towards us, sealing the deal for me and my brothers.

Loosening my hold around her, I pulled away just enough that I lay my forehead against her own, staring her in the eyes, as I said to her, “My family and I will always be here for you. Don’t ever think that you are alone in this world, as you will always have us.”

Raven’s glassed-over orbs stared back at me, before she wrapped her hand behind my neck, pulling me into her, as her lips crashed against mine. Instantly, I could feel her pain through the physical connection. between us, making me want to just hold her in my arms all night, but I knew I had work here that needed to be done. Cash, on the other hand, had the privilege too, and right now, for the first time in my life, I was jealous of him.

Our kiss lingered longer than I probably should have allowed it to, but i needed this right now, as my own heart was aching but in a different way. It wasn’t until I heard the howl coming from the woods, did I know that my father was here, and that I needed to let go of Raven so that she could get back to the ranch where I knew she would be safe.

Slowly, I pulled away from the kiss, placing one last soft kiss on her lips, before I stepped back from the truck, shutting the door. Cash had already taken his place behind the wheel, and through our mind link I said to him, “Take care of our girl.”

I stood there in the middle of the lane, watching my truck and the car Raven’s friends were in, drive away, as I thought about how I was going to explain the situation we had on our hands to my father. He had told Cash and me as plain as day to stay out of what was happening here in Beaumont, but, in all honesty, did he really think that we were going to be able to, as it seemed like every corner we turned, it had it out for

Once again, though, I had a dead body on my hands, and I knew my father wasn’t going to like this, as I knew this one was going to hit him pretty hard.

Chapter 97-1

Chance’s POV

“Where’s her body?” My father asks me as soon as he shifts into his human form, while the other pack members stay in their wolf form, surrounding the property, as if they were keeping a look-out.

“She’s inside the house.” I said, as I moved to the front door, holding it open for him to enter to see Ms. Wilson for himself.

As soon as my father stepped through the front door, I watched him raise his hand to cover his mouth, and I knew that it wasn’t from the smell, but from the shock of seeing her gone. My father had always ha a soft spot in his heart for Ms. Wilson, and after Raven arrived, I now knew why.

“I don’t understand why someone would bring her body back to our territory. Why not just leave her at the hospital where she died?” I said to my father, breaking the awkward silence in the small living room, as h moved towards the recliner chair that Ms. Wilson’s corpse laid in.

“They did it out of respect, son.” My father said, as if I should have known this, but I honestly had no clue what the hell was going on here, as he was still keeping us all out of the loop.

“Respect?” I asked him confused, wondering why someone would want to show someone respect after murdering them.

My father didn’t answer me, but instead leaned down over Ms. Wilson’s corpse, as if he was looking for something. I had no clue what he could possibly be looking for, as I had already given her body a good look over. Unfortunately, there was no evidence of who could have possibly done this, and, in all honesty, had to wonder if the same person who had murdered her was even the same person that had brought her

back here.

Standing back to his full height, he shakes his head in what looks like disbelief before he turns away from her and says, “I know it’s hard for you to comprehend, but sometimes, even when at war, respect is shown for those that deserve it.”

“How is there any respect in this? Someone murdered an innocent elderly lady.” I pleaded back with him, wondering how there was any respect or honor in that.

My father stepped towards me at that moment and placed his one hand on my shoulder before he said to me, “I know this must be hard on you, since this is your mate’s grandmother, but you must push those feelings aside and look at it from an Alpha’s perspective.”

“What? Like you are doing right now?” I asked him, and my father let out a growl, warning me not to test him, but I had enough of all the secrets he was keeping from us.

He clearly thought that he had all this under control, but it was apparent that he didn’t, or Ms. Wilson would still be alive. It was time that he dropped the whole act, that he could handle this on his own, when it was clear that he needed my help along with my brothers.

“Don’t make the same mistake that your father made.” I now said to him, wanting him to know that I wasn’t completely in the dark about what happened all those years ago.

“My father? My father did what he thought was best to protect my brother and me, and I am doing what I

feel is best for you and your brothers. If you have forgotten, I am still the Alpha here, and you need to lea your place and not question my actions.” My father tells me with a hint of authority in his tone, but that hint of authority did nothing to stop me from pushing my father’s buttons a little further.

“And where did that get your brother and all the pack members that were murdered all those years ago? How did that work out for you and Raven’s mother? Last time! checked, it all ended in death, and you lo your fated mate. I won’t allow history to repeat itself.” I told him, putting my own Alpha authority into my tone, wanting him to know that I was a firstborn Alpha unlike himseif, and that I wasn’t going to sit aroun and allow whomever this was to continuously go after my mate.
