Moon Phased: The Triple Claim novel Chapter 190

Chapter 100-1

Raven’s POV

My mind couldn’t process how someone could be so demented to do such a thing with my grandmother’s remains. It was clear that the murderer was trying to send me a message, but what the hell was it? I mean who in their right mind removes a dead body from a hospital, drives with it for a couple of hours in their vehicle, and then carefully places the body back in the deceased’s home?

The only thing I could come up with was that someone was trying to cover their damn tracks, by trying to make it look like she had died in her home of natural causes. Thankfully, there was no way in hell this person was going to get away with it, because there had to be too many witnesses.

Between the paramedics that had driven her to the hospital, to all the hospital staff that had taken care of her while she was there, someone had to remember seeing her. Hell, both Cash and Chase were both aware of her being there too, and I was sure that Evan was going to believe his sons when they told him the truth, or at least I hoped he would, because right now he was the only adult I really had to turn to.

A part of me was believing that someone was trying to drive me mad, knowing that I was already on the brink of losing my mind back in California, but I had to wonder who on earth would do that. Jessica was at the top of my list of suspects who wanted me to lose it so that I would be sent away, but I knew that there was no way in hell that Jessica could pull something as sinister as this off, even with the help of her friends.

Unfortunately, Jessica was the only person that I knew that I had pissed off since coming here, leading me to believe that this too had something to do with my mother. But since I was in the dark, still not knowing what had happened all those years ago, none of it made sense to me.

I wanted to drive back to Mrs. Jacobs’s house, and demanded her to tell us everything she knew, but I knew that was never going to happen, as the whole town’s lips were sealed. There was one individual that I hadn’t asked yet, and I feared asking him, knowing that it would bring up an old heartache, but I was beginning to feel like I had no other choice if I wanted answers.

Of course, I wouldn’t ask him around his sons, as I would never want to speak of his and my mother’s relationship in front of them, because I would never want to disrespect the relationship he had with their mother. But right now, he seems to be my last resort to finding out the truth, and I just prayed that he would be the one to open my eyes to what is happening around here.

My mind was so lost trying to piece everything that had happened together, that I hadn’t realized that we had made it back to the ranch. It wasn’t until Cash said to me, Maybe it’s best if we let Mazie entertain your friends tonight while you get sorne rest.” Did I realize that we were sitting parked outside his house.

Jacob and Lexi had already retrieved their luggage, and Mazie seemed to be showing them inside the house, while I just sat there in the front seat of the truck, not wanting to get out, as Cash was right, I wasn’t in the mood to be entertaining guests right now. Between being attacked by the rogue wolf in the cemetery, to losing my grandmother, I had more than my share of what I could handle this week, but it didn’t seem like things were going to get any better, any time soon.

From what I could see, Mazie and Jacob were hitting it off, just like I knew the two of them would if they ever met, but as for Mazie and Lexi, the two looked to be shying away from each other, leading me to wonder if there might just be an interest brewing between them.
