Chapter 100-2
The last time I got the scoop on Lexi’s love interests, there were no certain individuals, as Lexi wasn’t quite sure where she stood. She had dated some guys, all leading to epic breakups, and when I mean epic breakups, I mean Lexi was the one to breakup with them, and make it well known what a p***y they were.
Lexi had to be one of the strongest females I had ever met, never taking shit from anyone, but she had grown up differently than the rest of us had. Of course, just like everyone else in my school, she came from money, but it’s well known in the school that her family didn’t come by it the legal way, per se, leading her to be limited to those that were willing to be her friends.
My mother, being the lawyer that she was, always taught me not to condemn my peers for what their parents have done, as it isn’t their parents that define them as an individual. She would always tell me that the individual choices that we make are what determine who and what we become, and not fall in line with the stereotypes, making the choices based off our own dreams and aspirations.
Lexi, I would say, has one thing going for her, and that was that she never fell in line with any stereotypes. She had always done her, and she never once strayed from those that she called her friends, leading me to believe that her and Jacob would be good for the night without me, in Mazie’s care.
Nodding my head, realizing that my friends were in good hands, I agreed with Cash that it would just be best to head straight upstairs to his room to get some rest. As the two of us entered the house, I could hear his grandmother in the kitchen with my friends. The sound of pots and pans rattling told me that Mrs. Ryder was already busy in the kitchen getting my friends something to eat, and I should have known that she would be right on top taking care of them after their long flight to get here.
Just as I was about to turn my head away from looking down the hallway, Mazie appeared, giving me a kind smile, while she nodded her head as if to tell me she had this. Cash, at that moment, wrapped his arm around my waist, guiding me towards the stairs, as he carried my suitcase I had packed in his other hand.
Unlike the last bag that I had packed, this one was packed full of my clothes to do me well for over a week or so, as I had no clue the next time, I would have the heart to step back into my grandmother’s house. Unfortunately, the sight of her corpse sitting in her favorite recliner chair isn’t something that I felt was going to dismiss from my mind anytime soon.
I now not only have the images of my parents‘ deceased bodies in my head, but I now have my grandmother’s. Thankfully, though, my grandmother looked to be at peace even though I knew she had been wrongfully taken from this world, she looked to have gone in her sleep, which was a much better death than what my parents were gifted with. Unfortunately, her death still stung, as I felt immense guilt in my heart for not getting to know her better before she had passed, but I was still recovering from my parents‘ deaths, and if I was being honest, I was afraid to let her in for this very reason.
Placing my suitcase on a small chair in his room, Cash turned to look at me, as I stood there at the foot of his bed, feeling numb as I realized that I was alone in this world with no one of my blood left, and no place to truly call home. Beaumont had been slowly growing on me, and I was just beginning to feel like I could call this place home, but then, just like back in California, everything was taken away from me in the blink of arı eye, and I had to wonder what would now happen to me, now that my grandmother was gone.
Clearly, I had less than a week before I was considered an adult, but I had no clue how the whole trust fund that was left behind for me by my parents even worked. I am now worried if it would be enough to

allow me to stay here if I wanted to finish my senior year, or would I be forced into taking Ms. Jacobs up on her offer to go back to California.
I closed my eyes tightly turning away from Cash’s gaze, as my head felt like it was beginning to pound. I was so lost and confused, not knowing which side was up or down, and I felt like at that very moment that I was completely lost in this world.
Tears that I had been holding back began to seep from the corners of my eyes, as I no longer could hold back the pain, now that I was in the privacy of Cash’s room. I honestly didn’t care that he was standing behind me, as I knew that he would understand the pain that I was going through.
It didn’t take long before Cash snaked his arms around my body, pulling my back flush against the warmth of his chest. My body inadvertently leaned back into his embrace, welcoming the protection and comfort he gave me, because right now, this was exactly what I needed.
By no means did I want to use him as a distraction, but right now, he was the best thing that I had to one, and I couldn’t deny that his touch upon my flesh was enough to make me forget everything, even if it was just for a moment.
As if Cash knew exactly what I needed, he began to leave a trail of butterfly kisses down the side of my neck, all the way to my collarbone, as I tried to sniffle back my tears, all while I tucked my pain deep inside of me, only allowing myself to feel the now.
In one swift motion, I turned in his embrace, wrapping my own arms around him, as I crashed my lips against his, allowing his touch to take away my pain, as he made me feel like I still belonged somewhere. My heart began to race in my chest, but this time it wasn’t out of fear, but out of anticipation of what this moment might bring.
