Chapter 104-1
Chase’s POV
“I need your help.” I said to Cash as I entered the barn, thinking that it might be a good idea to have at least one of my brothers to back me, not knowing exactly what I was getting myself into today.
Cash let out a damn chuckle, not even turning to look in my direction, as he said to me, “You’re asking me for help? That’s a first.”
“Yeah, well, I wouldn’t be asking you for help if I knew exactly what I was dealing with.” I admitted to him, making him finally turn to look at me, with a look of curiosity on his face.
With his full attention, he asks me, “And what exactly do you want my help with?”
Not thinking, I blurted out to him, “I believe that Jessica is to be attacked today.” By the time the last word came out of my mouth, I realized that I probably should never have mentioned Jessica’s name, because her name was like a thorn in my brothers‘ sides.
Cash let out a huff before he chuckled, turning away from me, returning to cleaning out the stables, while he said to me, “You think that I give a shit what happens to Jessica? She is the reason why we’re divided. Plus, why would they attack her? She and her damn mother are probably somehow behind all of this.”
It was crazy, but for the first time in a long time, I actually had to agree with him, because after what I had overheard last night, I knew that Mrs. Jacobs was for sure involved, but as for Jessica, I still had no clue if she was. Regardless of what the situation was, I was asking my brother for help, and the last time that I checked, if one of us asked for the other’s help, we were supposed to be there for each other, regardless
of what it was.
Of course, looking back, I had checked out a lot in the helping category, making me believe this was Cash’s way of trying to get back at me for stepping out so much over the years since our mother had passed. But damn it, I needed him to back me on this one, as it wasn’t because of Jessica, or even my own damn pride, it was to protect Raven, and the rest of our pack.
Not wanting confrontation with him but wanting him to realize that I truly needed him to back me on this one, I said to him now in a calm tone, “This isn’t about Jessica.
But I barely got Jessica’s name out of my mouth, before he turned, glaring at me. Before I knew what was happening, Cash charged at me, pinning me against the wall, with darkness in his eyes like I had never seen before, making me wonder what had truly set him off this morning.
Through his gritted teeth, he finally says to me, “I told you. I don’t give a shit what happens to her. She and her damn mother can go to hell for all I care.”
Honestly, I had no damn clue what was going on with him, as he was never aggressive like this, even if he was pissed off at me, making me believe that something had happened.
Pushing him off me, I let out a low growl, warning him to back the hell up, as I asked him, “Who the hell pissed in your Wheaties this morning?”
It didn’t take long for me to realize that was the wrong thing for me to say to him, as he was clearly on the verge of losing control to his wolf, as his eyes began to glow, and he let out his own low warning growl to

me to back the hell up. In all my years of pissing off my brothers, I had never pissed them off to this point, and I knew something was terribly wrong with him.
Raising my hands, as if to show him I surrender, I tried to deescalate the situation, by saying, “Cash, calm down. I don’t know what is going on with you, but let’s talk about it.”
