Moon Phased: The Triple Claim novel Chapter 200

Raven’s POV

Please, don’t be afraid.”

Clar

Was he being for real? How the hell did Chase think that I was going to react after being attacked and pretty much mauled by one of these damn rogue wolves? But as he wrapped his arms tightly around me, pulling my back flush against his chest, I somehow began to relax in his embrace.

For some unexplained reason, I felt safe in his arms, as if I knew being in them, the wolf inside the barn wouldn’t attack me. But even as I began to relax in his embrace, my eyes remained on the pair of glowing golden eyes staring back at me, as my body continued to shake in fear.

We just stood there in what felt like a standoff for minutes, just staring at each other, as low growls rippled from within the barn. With the time that had passed, I realized the wolf inside the barn wasn’t necessarily going to attack, as I would have thought by now that he would have if he intended to, making me wonder if the low growls were a warning to back off, as he may feel trapped inside.

It was at that moment that my body stopped shaking, and the fear that I was once feeling became minimal, as I whispered to Chase, I think it’s scared.

Oh, it’s scared, alright.Chase said back to me, as if he knew the creature’s behavioral habits, which he probably did, since he had lived here his whole life among the wolves on their land.

Do you think we should give it space so it can run off?I now asked him, thinking this wasn’t one of the rogue wolves that had attacked me, but one of the wolves that were native to this land.

In all honesty, the wolf was probably just as scared of me as I was of it. Most likely the reason why it was growling was because it was cornered in the barn and frightened.

Chase shook his head at me, as he pushed me slightly forward away from his chest, placing me now in the direct path of the wolf, while he said to me, No. You need to overcome your fear of wolves, and you need to let them know that you aren’t afraid of them.

I turned slightly to look at Chase, as my eyes narrowed, wondering if he was being for real, because the idea of standing my ground against a wild animal didn’t sound like the smartest of ideas. Then again, I wasn’t a country girl, and I had grown up my whole life in the city, and the closest ! had ever got to a wild animal was when I visited the zoo.

You can do this.Chase now said to me, letting me know that he was being dead serious, as he remained standing right behind me, crossing his arms now over his chest, as I slowly turned around to face the pair of glowing golden eyes again.

Taking a deep breath, I reminded myself of the gentle wolf that I had encountered in the cemetery on my first night I had gone there, and how safe I felt in its presence. I just pray to God that this wolf in the barn. was just as nice and friendly as that one, because if it was, then I knew I had this.

I once read to scare off a wild animal. I was to make myself look big, but I wasn’t trying to scare the wolf off, but instead let it know that I wasn’t afraid of it. Honestly, I don’t know what the hell I was thinking, because truth be told, I was out of my damn mind when I took a step forward, and decided to lower myself to the ground, taking a seat directly in front of Chase

Clam

Sitting there now on the ground, with my legs crossed, I kept my eyes straight forward on the barn, waiting To see if the wolf would show himself to me. Instantly, the growls came to a complete halt, and I watched

the glowing golden eyes, staring directly back at me, as if the wolf was just as confused by my gesture.
