Moon Phased: The Triple Claim novel Chapter 201

Chapter105-2

That’s it, Raven.” I heard Chase say from behind me, but I didn’t dare to take my eyes off the pair of eyes staring back at me, especially now that I had just committed myself to doing this.

The pair of eyes slowly began to move towards me within the darkness of the barn, as I watched the wolf slowly emerge from its shadows. My eyes instantly widened when i took the wolf’s appearance in, as I realized that this wolf looked exactly like the wolf I had seen in the cemetery that had been friendly with

me

Just like the wolf in the cemetery that night, this wolf was also skittish of me, but it was also intrigued by me too, as its eyes remained on me as it continued to move in my direction. My heart was now beating a mile a minute, as the wolf drew near me, but it wasn’t because I was socalled scared of him, but because I noticed his size was a bit bigger than the one that I had encountered at the cemetery. Other than that, the two wolves could pass as twins, making me wonder what exactly was in the water here on the ranch, as the twin and triplet theme seemed to run in the wild here too.

The wolf now skittishly came to a halt about a good ten feet in front of me, lowering its head, as its eyes remained on me, while it began to cautiously close the remaining distance between us. I could now see why Chase had said not to be afraid, as it was clear that the wolves here on their land were nothing like the ones that had attacked me.

If anything, these wolves seemed to be adapted to having humans around them, and they also seemed to be more tamed, leaving me to wonder if the Ryder family has not just been sharing the land with them, but also making them more like their livestock on the ranch.

I knew that it was a crazy idea, but with them living among us all these years, one would think that the wolves would grow accustomed to humans being around them, allowing the humans to get close to them, just like I was doing right now. Slowly, I extended my hand towards the wolf, trying not to make any sudden movement, now seeing that the wolf was even more afraid of me than I was of him.

Patiently, I waited for the wolf to come to me, and when the tips of my fingers grazed the fur on the top of his head, I let out a breath I didn’t even know I was holding, as he now pushes his head into my lap, begging me to pet him.

A smile instantly forms on my face, as the wolf now nudges into me playfully, and a giggle slips from my lips, just before the wolf’s head rises from my lap, surprising me with a long lick of its tongue right up the side of my face.

Aren’t you just a lover?I said to the wolf, as I wiped the side of my face off, before I began to pet him behind his ear, knowing how much Jacob’s pet chihuahua used to like when I did that to him.

The wolf began to pant, as his tongue hung freely from his mouth, while Chase took a knee beside me, as he said, That’s right. This one here is more of a lover than a fighter. Aren’t you now, boy?” As he extended his hand to pet the wolf, but the wolf let out a growl, before he snipped at Chase, making me retract my hand, realizing this was still a wild animal that I was petting like a damn dog.

See what you did. You scared her again.Chase said to the wolf, scolding him like he was his pet, but once again, the wolf let out a growl, and I could have sworn I saw the wolf’s eyes narrow at him.

The two of them at that moment remained silent, as they glared intensely at each other, making me wonder if they were somehow communicating with each other on some other kind of level, because the

change in Chase’s facial features seemed to be an indication of it. Another growl at that moment rumbles From the wolf, as he begins to bare his teeth at Chase, making me slowly begin to inch myself away from

the two of them, not wanting to get caught up in whatever it was that was about to happen.

But I only got a few feet away from them, before the wolf pounced on Chase, taking him hard to the ground with a loud thud. A scream inadvertently came from my lips, as memories of when the wolf attacked me in the graveyard came flooding back to me, and all I could think about was this wolf doing the same thing to Chase.

Getting to my feet, I raced back towards the house screaming for help, knowing that Evan and Chance were in the house. As I got closer to the house, Chance and his father came racing around the front of the house towards me, obviously hearing my screams for help, but when they saw what I was screaming about, they both came to a halt. Chance’s eyebrows furrowed hard together, as a stern look formed on his face, while he stared directly at Chase and the wolf, while their father called out, Enough!

My eyes moved back to Chase and the wolf, thinking about how the hell that could have even worked to separate them, but to my surprise, the wolf was no longer on Chase, but instead it was racing back towards the barn as if it had been scolded for bad behavior.

Chase slowly got to his feet, running his hands through his hair, trying to put it back into place, as my eyes scanned his body for any signs that he had been hurt. Thankfully, there was no blood that I could see from this distance, making me leave out a sigh of relief knowing that he wasn’t physically hurt.

What the hell were you thinking?Chance asks, as he moves towards Chase, cuffing him by the neck.

Me?Chase asked him, as if he was offended, while he removed Chance’s hand from around his neck, as he let out a growl, all while taking a step back from him, putting distance between them.

Cash, get your ass out here.” Evan then sternly said, as he made his way down towards the barn, making me remember that I had heard Cash’s voice in the barn on my way to it, but that I had never seen him after I had seen the wolf.

I was just about to tell Evan that Cash wasn’t involved in what happened, but then Cash walked out of the barn in just a pair of gym shorts. Blood noticeably dripped from Cash’s nose, making me stop from saying a single word, as I wondered where the hell he was at during the time the wolf was here, and how he had gotten the bloody nose.

My eyes at that moment darted over to Chase, and when he moved his other hand up to fix his hair, I noticed the blood now on the back of his hand, making me look back and forth between the two of them, as my mind began to race.
