Moon Phased: The Triple Claim novel Chapter 203

Chapter 106-2

Then let me just let him know that I am sorry. I should never have accused him.” I said to Chance, as I tried to step around him, while I watched Chase and Cash now step into the barn with their father, but Chance placed his hand this time out to the side to stop me from stepping around him.

I watched as the three of them disappeared into the shadows of the barn, wishing that Chase would just turn back to look at me just for a second so that I could let him know that I was sorry. Unfortunately, Chase was as stubborn as a bull, and he walked right into that barn with his head held high, not giving a shit about what I thought about him, or what consequences he may have for punching his brother.

Chance at that moment took a full step in front of me, blocking my full line of sight of the opening of the barn, as he leaned down, looking me straight in the eyes before he said to me, Why don’t you go back inside and spend some time with your California friends?

My head tilted to the side while my eyes narrowed slightly as I stared back at Chance, realizing he was using my friends as an excuse to get rid of me, because I knew the last thing he wanted was for me to spend time with them, especially Jacob. Knowing that Chance was asking me to go spend time with Jacob, it was clear that he was trying to get me away from what was going to transpire in the barn, making me wonder what they were trying to hide from me.

A chuckle slipped from my lips before I could stop it, making Chance take a step back from me, surprised by my little outburst, while a confused look plagued his face.

You seriously want me to go spend time with my California friends?I asked him with a mischievous look on my face, thinking that I could play this one as far as I wanted to go with him.

I mean, I am sure that Jacob has missed me.” I then said, as I let out a sigh, wanting to ruffle Chance’s feathers a bit.

A growl rumbled from his chest, and I knew that my words had got under his skin just like I wanted them too, before I continued to say, That’s what I thought.” As I moved to push past him towards the barn, because whatever had happened between Cash and Chase, I wanted to know about it. Plus, there was still the fact I felt the need to apologize to Chase.

Raven, wait.Chance said, grabbing ahold of my arm before I could make it too far.

What?I asked him, as his hand slid down my arm, taking me by the hand, while i tried to pull away from

him.

Chance remained silent, as his eyes darted past me toward the barn, making me look over my shoulder to see what he was staring at, but I couldn’t see anyone. Hell, come to think of it, I couldn’t even hear them talking, making me wonder if their father was even scolding them, as it seemed a bit quiet.

You know what? Maybe it’s time I took you and showed you the wolvesden on our property.Chance said out of nowhere, drawing my attention back to him, as I looked at him, wondering where this had come from.

I mean, you just met another one of the wolves, so why not introduce you to more of them?He then said, as he tried to force a smile on his face to convince me to go, but little did he know I had been waiting for this moment.

Clam

Ever since I met the silver wolf in the cemetery, had thought about him and hoped that I would see him again. Plus, I was still hoping that there was a way that we could somehow get the wolves of this area to work with us to protect the town from these rogue wolves. Now that I had met another one, and saw how friendly they were, I honestly didn’t think that it would be hard to motivate them to work with us, as my plan didn’t seem so far fetched now.

Trying not to act overzealous, I hold back my smile, as I say one simple word with a straight face to him,Sure.

Good then. I will get the horses ready while you go inside and change into appropriate riding attire.” Chance tells me as he turns my butt back towards the house, ushering me away from the barn, before I could realize what he had been up to.

It wasn’t until I got into the house, racing up to Cash’s room to change, did I realize how foolish I was for believing that I had won somehow against him. When, truth be told, he had steered me straight away from the barn, where Cash and Chase were.

Here I thought that I was the clever one, but I was learning quickly that I just may have met my match when it came to Chance. Unlike me, Chance had many years of experience of outwitting his younger brothers, and I needed to make sure from this day forward I remembered that, as it was clear, he had just pulled a fast one over me. But then, on the other hand, I was getting my opportunity to see the wolvesden, and right now, I would take that as a tradeoff, as long as I made sure to make things right with Chase

as soon as I saw him.
