Chapter 107-1

Raven’s POV

Thankfully, it didn’t take me long to change, but I needed to make sure that Mazie was okay with watching over my friends while Chance took me to the wolves‘ den. Of course, Mazie was more than okay with it, and I knew exactly why, as I busted her stealing glances at Lexi.

It didn’t take a rocket scientist to see that Mazie was interested, and for the first time since I had come here, I felt like Mazie was truly being her real self. Maybe it was the fact that she was among people that made her feel comfortable in her skin, but I just wished that she could feel that way towards us, as there was no judgement on any of our behaves, as we loved her for whatever and whoever she chose to be.

As I made my way back outside to meet Chance, I was surprised to see Evan standing by the barn with two horses saddled and ready to go. My eyes roamed behind Evan, thinking that Chance would be walking out of the barn at any second, but as I approached Evan and the horses, he handed me the reins to one of them, as he asked me, “Are you sure you’re ready to see them?”

I stared at Evan with a questioning look on my face, wondering why he was asking me this. I mean, I knew that it could be dangerous walking into any wild animal’s den, but so far, the two that I had met both seemed tamed to me. But that was just two out of what I assumed to be a whole pack that lives here, and I had to wonder just how dangerous this was actually going to be.

“Should I be afraid?” I asked Evan, now questioning whether I should go or not, because the way that he had asked me if I was sure I was ready, it had me wondering if I was prepared for what I was about to

encounter.

Evan looked down at me as his eyes narrowed slightly, before he asked me, “Were you afraid of the wolf today?”

I had to think about his question, because at first, I was afraid, as I thought that the wolf was part of the rogue wolves, but when I found out that the wolf was part of the pack that resided here on their lands, my fear of them wasn’t so grave. In all honesty, if it wasn’t for me being attacked by two rogue wolves, I don’t even know if I would fear them, especially if I had met the one in the cemetery first.

Being honest with Evan, I finally said to him, “I was scared at first, but that was because I thought it was a rogue wolf.”

Evan nodded his head, as he said, “It’s good that you had some fear in you, Not all wolves are our friends, and I need you to remember that.”

I found myself nodding my head back to him, knowing exactly what he was saying better than anyone, as I had already been attacked and had almost died at the hands of one of them.

“Good. Then let me help you up.” Evan said as he moved to help me mount the horse, and thankfully, this time it was so much easier than my first time thanks to Cash.

But as I mounted the horse with ease, I couldn’t help but begin to look around for Chance, wondering where the hell he could be. As I turned back around to see Evan mounting the second horse, I didn’t want to sound rude, but I had to ask him, “Is Chance not taking me?”

“Chance and his brothers went ahead to make sure it was safe. I am sure we will catch up to them.” Evan

says, like it was no big deal, but I was now a bit hesitant, knowing that there was a chance that none of Them would be by my side.

But Evan didn’t give me time to rethink it, as he took off on his horse towards the mountains, leaving me with no real other choice but to follow him. Thankfully, this time I was in control, as the horse remained standing still until I gave it a leg cue, telling it to go, but of course I wasn’t on Speed Demon either.
