Chapter 110-1
Chase’s POV
Honestly, I thought Raven was going to run for the hills when she saw Chance’s wolf, and to be honest, I couldn’t blame her. But I couldn’t be the heartless asshole they all thought that I was, allowing her to slide right past me, without stepping in and giving her the little boost that she needed to see the real person behind the wolf.
When I watched her finally lower herself before him and begin to interact with both his wolf and Cash’s wolf, I knew that I had fulfilled my duty here to my father, for my punishment for what happened back on the ranch. However, it was a punishment that I didn’t believe that I deserved in the first place, as I had saved all their asses with Cash’s little temper tantrum.
But, of course, just like always, the finger was once again pointed in my direction, and lucky for them all, I had grown lately to have thick skin, taking the punishments as they came, realizing that it was my two brothers versus me. Honestly, I was beginning to realize that it didn’t matter what I did, because it would always be looked down upon. When I asked for help for the first time today from one of them, I wasn’t taken seriously, and I was rejected before my brother even knew what I needed help with
I was beginning to believe that maybe the lone Alpha wolf wasn’t such a bad idea, and, in all honesty, there were two of them, and that was all they really needed to remain supreme and protect our lands from invasions by other packs onto our territory. Our father had been successful in doing so alone until now, but then again, he secretly had his twin brother living within the mountains of our territory if he ever needed
him.
Actually, when you think about it, our Uncle Ethan had a good life, living alone in the mountains, without a damn care or responsibility in this world other than himself. Of course, it was apparent that he had been up there wasting his time planning whatever damn revenge he had been planning all these years, against the person that messed up his face so badly. I, on the other hand, would have just tracked down the person and made him pay instead of stewing about it all these years, waiting for him to return.
To be honest, I didn’t have that kind of patience, nor did I think I ever would, as I was the one out of the three of us brothers that would lose my temper first, or at least I thought that until today, when Cash so easily lost his in the barn. Honestly, I had to wonder what that was truly all about, because I have no clue what the hell I could have possibly done to piss him off so badly. I mean, I know he hated Jessica and her mother, but damn, he was short–tempered with the whole thing before I could even try and explain to him what was going on.
With him refusing to help me, that left me sort of in a bind, but then again, I was used to doing things on my own. It was just this time, I was questioning whether I could do this on my own, because I wanted to make sure that I sent a message out loud and clear that we weren’t to be messed with
We had already lost Josie and Ms. Wilson, and they had already come after Raven multiple times, and I would be damned if I allowed another death to happen under my watch, especially Raven’s. Now that I was piecing this all together, I realized that my family had taken an oath and made a promise to the original Alpha of this land, and that was to protect his kin
Whether I wanted to accept Raven as my mate or not, she was his kin, and I had a duty to fulfill a promise that was made by my ancestors that I planned on keeping Plus, after hearing the story about the Alpha King and his heirs continuously coming for our land, I knew it was also time to put a stop to all of them.
Cha
too. My grandfather and my great–uncle had failed, alongside my father and his brother, but that was then and this was now
