They only had four Alphas in their equation, and my existence upsets that equation, giving us, I believe, the one up that we need to finally put an end to all of this. Plus, I wasn’t allowing the mate bond to affect me as it had obviously affected my father and uncle with Raven’s mother, giving me the advantage of being able to put my feelings aside versus what needs to be done to stop this

Racing back towards civilization, that was exactly what I was doing, by leaving Raven with my brothers, and heading towards the school alone, where I knew a planned attack was to happen today to Jessica Thankfully, I had overheard the conversation last night with Jessica’s mother and the mystery man, and I now knew that all this time what they had been up to.

Little did they know. I never truly was considering making Jessica our Luna, but I knew that it pissed my brothers off, so I continued to do it. Maybe at one point, if I was being honest, I had considered it, but I honestly don’t know if I would ever have gone through with it.

Jessica was kind of a bitch, and she honestly wasn’t Luna material. Yeah, she may look the part, but when she opens that pretty little mouth of hers, nothing nice ever comes from it, especially to our peers. If anything, it seemed like the only reason she got an ounce of respect was because she was with me, and other than that, I heard the pack members talking about her behind her back.

Before Raven got here, I had been thinking about ending things with Jessica, but once I saw Raven at the diner and knew she was our mate, I knew that I had to keep Jessica around. There was no doubt in my mind that my brothers would be instantly smitten by Raven as soon as they saw her and would want me to conform to being a trio with them once again. Unfortunately, I couldn’t do it, especially because the two of them had just gone on with their lives after our mother had died.

My mother and I were thick as thieves, or at least I like to think that we were. The memories I have of the two of us I have forever preserved, never wanting to ever forget the way that she had impacted my soul. My brothers had clearly taken after my father with their abilities to brush away the pain like it never existed, where I on the other hand, felt that pain just like it was yesterday.

But none of that mattered anymore, especially after what I had overheard last night. There was no way in hell I could even continue these shenanigans with Jessica, as I would die before I left her anywhere near my family, knowing that she wasn’t who she says she was. She only half belonged to our pack, as her mother had lied about who her father truly was.

This whole time, Jessica had played the role of a poor omega, but in reality, she was fathered by a rogue that clearly wanted to take over our pack. Today, I was going to show this father of hers that I wasn’t a pawn in his game of chest, but instead an opponent that he didn’t see coming.

As I approached the school, my wolf raised his snout, taking a whiff of the air while the wind blew in our direction, and sure enough, I could smell the faint scent of a rogue who was clearly trying to disguise his scent. The attack was to happen after school, so there would only be a few places that this rogue could hide near the parking lot. Plus, I knew where Jessica parked her car every day, limiting the places for the rogue to hide for easy access to her.

Staying within the shadows of the trees, I kept low, as I scoped the grounds out in front of me, looking for any signs of movement. With school leaving out soon, I knew that the rogue would already be in place for the attack. Sure enough, just where I thought the rogue would be hiding there was slight movement within the shadows, telling me that the mysterious man from last night was going forward with his plan

With my recent lack of attendance, I was sure I was the last person they would expect to see here, especially after my mere death experience with wolfsbane. The last time Jessica had seen me, I was on my deathbed, and my father had sent her home, knowing the amount of pain I was in.

For all Jessica and her mother knew, I was still at home recovering from the poison, but little did they both know that even though Raven and I weren’t together, the power of our mate bond still worked to take away my pain and helped with the healing process. So, as I saw it, me being here right now was going to be a shocker to them all, and I was ready to put a huge damper in their plans.

But as I moved to take my place, because I knewit was just a matter of minutes now before the last bell of the day would ring, a familiar car pulled into the parking lot, parking directly next to Jessica’s car. A low growl rumbled in my chest, as I thought about what the chances were of this happening.

Of all the parking spots in the parking lot, and the times she could have come to school today, why on earth did she pick this particular time and place to park? Not only that, but she also wasn’t alone, as three doors to her car opened simultaneously, telling me that she had brought Raven’s human friends from California with her, placing all of them right in the middle of a rogue attack about to happen.
