Moon Phased: The Triple Claim novel Chapter 218

Chapter 114-1

Raven’s POV

Well so much for thinking that the den of wolves on the ranch would be able to protect me and the town from the rogue wolves. But then again, I had only met three of the wolves and ! only had one escorting me back to the ranch, all while being chased down by a dozen of these damn rogue wolves.

I had to wonder where the huge black one had taken off to in a hurry, as it seemed as if he knew what was coming, even before the first howl had rung out. Plus, the one from the cemetery had disappeared as soon as the black one had pretty much come into the picture, leaving me to also wonder where he had gone to.

Now I had the bigger of the two silver wolves trying to get me back to safety, or at least that is what it felt like he was doing, as it was clear that he was trying to get me back to the ranch. A part of me now wishes that I would have just got on his damn back, as I felt like! was riding the horse without control, but thankfully it seemed as if the horse knew where he was supposed to go.

Evan had thankfully given me Cash’s horse of all the horses in the stable, and he was the only horse that I would have this much faith in, as he was the only horse that I had ever ridden. other than their mother’s crazy ass horse that almost killed me. But even as I have faith in

Cash’s horse, I honestly didn’t know with him in control if he was capable of getting us back to the ranch safely against this pack of rogue wolves closing in on us.

I must not have been the only one thinking that way, because the silver wolf that was escorting me seemed to be hanging back behind me, as if he was coming up with a plan to divert them from me or slow them down enough for me to return to safety. Unfortunately, I knew this wolf didn’t have a fighting chance against as many rogue wolves as there were, and I couldn’t in good conscience leave him to sacrifice himself for me.

While I watched the silver wolf begin to hang back further, I grabbed ahold of the reigns tightly, slowing Cash’s horse down just enough to let the wolf see if he was going to do something foolish, then I was standing right beside him. Of course, the wolf noticed right away that I had no plans on leaving him behind, and with his eyes narrowing at me, he made it very clear that he wasn’t happy with what I had decided.

Nevertheless, I was standing by my decision, and I wasn’t going to let him die because of me, as it was very clear that these wolves were somehow sent here for me, since this was now the fourth attack on my life by them. Honestly, I wish I knew what the hell I had done to have someone so damn determined to end my life, but something told me this wasn’t directly because of me, but because of something my mother had done before she left here.

I had to wonder what she could have done to piss someone off so much that that person would come after me for her wrongdoings, but it must have been something so horrendous, especially since they had taken my grandmother’s life too. There was no doubt in my mind that at the first chance they got, they would also retry to take my life, but I wasn’t going to go down as easily as my frail grandmother did, nor was I going to leave this town until I knew the truth about what happened all those years ago,

Realizing I wasn’t going to leave him behind, the silver wolf picked up his pace, and I loosened the reins, allowing Cash’s horse to take back control, as I literally held on for dear life. But that short hesitation might have cost us, because another group of wolves began to descend from another side of a mountain, veering straight towards us.
