Chapter15-1

Raven’s POV

It was clear that I had no sense of direction, but when Chance went to pull out at the end of the road I had walked to his house, I knew that he was heading in the wrong direction to take tric home. “Umm, where are we going? I thought you were taking me home.”

A smirk formed on his face, making me question whether I should have trusted allowing him to take me home, but then he says to me, “I want to show you something first, that I think you will love.”

“Can’t it wait until tomorrow? It’s getting late.” I asked him, wondering why he had to show me tonight, and why the hell he was now turning on a bumpy ass dirt road that shouldn’t even frave a name, because it was more like a trail up the side of a mountain.

“Hold on.” He says to me, but I already had my fingers dug into the dashboard, as I tried to steady myself, while I began to wonder if he was taking me out to the middle of nowhere, to cff me.

The dirt road was windy, and the higher we got on the mountain, the stars looked as if they were falling from the sky, as I peered out the windshield, looking at the heavens above, in awe. Chance pulled the truck to a halt, before turning it around, backing it up, before he shut the engine off.

Getting out of the truck, Chance moved around the front of it, before moving to my door. Opening my door, he extended his hand for me to take, as I slowly got out of the truck, mesmerized by the sight before my

eyes.

“This is amazing.” I said in complete awe, as I stared at the beautiful night sky, rotating in a circle, taking in

every angle of it, while I realized how beautiful this place was.

“I knew you would love it.” He said, as he motioned for me to join him while he lowered the tailgate of his truck, laying a blanket down on it, before lifting me up onto it.

Jumping up, he joined me on the tailgate, as he pointed to lights in the distance, and at this time of night, the small town of Beaumont looked magical, as the lights looked as if they were twinkling from afar. Leaning back, Chance relaxed on the blanket, as he looked at the heavens above, while the stars continued to shower down on us.

“I come here when I need to be alone and think. When I am here, I feel like I am closer to the heavens, and sometimes I feel like I can sense my mother’s presence.” He confesses to me, showing me once again his

gentle side.

Leaning back, I joined him, as I looked up at the heavens, now realizing why he had brought me here, but shocked that he was sharing his sacred place with me. But then again, we had both lost a parent, or in my case, both my parents, and we shared a pain so traumatic that I don’t know if I will ever truly be who I used

to be.

I don’t know why, but at that moment, I felt like I needed to share something private about myself with him

after he had just shared something private with me, knowing that if anyone understood me it would be him.

“I never got to say goodbye to mine. The accident happened so fast, and when I came through, they were gone. Being here, I feel like I am a million miles away from them, and everything I ever knew,”

I felt his hand braze against my own, before I felt the tips of his fingers gently caress the back of my hand, as if he was trying to comfort me, and I couldn’t help but close my eyes, allowing myself to lavish in his touch once again tonight. Something about it brought me comfort and eased my soul, as if his touch could magically heal my aching heart. I know it sounded crazy, but it for rear did something to me, something that I couldn’t explain, but then again, I was now certified crazy after the accident, and maybe this was just my mind playing tricks on me.
