Moon Phased: The Triple Claim novel Chapter 23

Chapter 15-2

His caress slowly changes, as the tips of his fingers begin to make circles on the back of my hand, and in a soft, gentle tone, he tries to comfort me by saying, “Your parents aren’t back in California waiting on you, they’re in the heavens above, watching down on you. Wherever you go, they will always be there with you, watching over you, and their love for you will always remain in your heart.”

I knew in the physical sense that they weren’t in California, but all my memories of them were there, left behind when I was forced to leave, in a storage unit, waiting for me to return home someday to them. As for the spiritual sense, I wanted to believe him that they were with me, watching over me, and that was why I wanted to make them proud of me. Knowing that even after death, I kept the morals and values that they had instilled in me, shaping me into the daughter that they could be proud of.

Opening my eyes, I gazed at the heavens, watching the stars continue to fall from them, as a single tear fell from the corner of my eye, thinking of my parents. Turning my head, I looked at Chance lying there beside me, as the tips of his fingers continued to caress the back of my hand.

This small moment in time we were sharing meant more to me than he will ever know, as it was the first time since my parents died that I felt like someone actually understood me and was truly there for me. Honestly, I had nobody but myself left in this world, and since my parents passed, I never felt so alone. But right now, I felt like I wasn’t alone anymore, and that maybe fate brought me here for a reason, just like his

grandmother had said, to find myself, so that I could find the will to push forward with my life.

As if he could sense my gaze upon him, his head slowly turned in my direction, and the two of us just lay there, gazing now into each other’s eyes. His eyes, like my own, were full of sorrow, his heart forever tainted by his loss, but even with all that pain, I could see a desire in them to live.

It had taken me weeks after my parents had died to find that desire, because when they passed, I felt like I should have died in that crash with them. A part of me then felt like they had abandoned me, like they hadn’t fought to live, but I knew after hearing the official coroner’s report, that they had died on impact, and never got the chance to fight.

Not breaking eye contact with me, Chance slowly turns onto his side to face me, while his hand moves to my face, wiping the tear streak away. Softly, he begins to now caress my cheek, while he whispers to me, “I can feel your pain, and I wish I could take it away, but only you have the ability to heal yourself. But know that I am here for you, and you don’t have to feel like you are alone.”

I stared at him, wondering how he knew that I felt alone before now, but it was clear that he truly got me, in this very short period of time that he knew me. I couldn’t help but feel a strong connection forming between us, going against everything I had told myself. I wasn’t going to do here, but how was I going to ignore how I was feeling towards him?

Between how his touch put me at ease, and his words touched my soul, I knew I was in trouble losing myself to him. He was making me feel like he knew me, not the old me, but the person that I had become, and it terrified me to let him in, but then it also felt good, not feeling like I was alone.

Chapter1.

With my lack of physical contact since the accident, I couldn’t help but want to relish his touch, as I began tu crave more, but I couldn’t because I didn’t want to hurt him, like my mother had hurt his father by leaving. But as he leaned towards me, licking his lips, my heart began to race, as butterflies danced in my stomach, at just the mere thought of him kissing me.

My mind was telling me to pull away, as his hand now cupped my face, but my heart was begging me for this small intimate moment with him. My heart began to convince ray mind that one innocent short kiss wouldn’t hurt, but as my heart won the internal battle inside of ine, and his lips pressed against my own lips, sparks erupted throughout my entire body, igniting a fire of unimaginable desire within me.
