Chapter 117-1
Raven’s POV
I found myself looking down at my hands, imagining them as furry paws, and I honestly don’t know what I was expecting to happen. Clearly, I wasn’t going to shift into a wolf like them, leaving me once again to think that I was going crazy for even entertaining the idea. But honestly, the thought had come from a little old lady that I would have expected would have been quite honest with me, because she had been the one that had slipped up with most of the information that I had acquire thus far.
Once I realized that I wasn’t going to shift into a wolf, and that their grandmother had to be losing her everlasting loving mind, I looked to Cash to see him staring at me like he was waiting to see how I was once again processing this information. My eyes narrowed as my eyebrows furrowed wondering if he too was believing this nonsense of his grandmothers. Sure enough, it was obvious that he too believed that I was like him, even though I had never in my life shifted into anything but a bitch when I was hungry.
Shaking my head, disagreeing with the whole idea, I moved to take a step back, thinking that just maybe I might need some space and time from all of them to get my head on straight, before I pursued this whole quest to find out what happened to my mother all those years ago. But before I could even take a couple steps back, Cash’s grandmother dropped another bomb by saying, “The rogues are attacking the school. Mrs. Jacobs called and is asking for assistance, but I can’t seem to be able to reach your father.”
“Don’t worry, Mazie warned me, and Chance should be there by now to deal with it.” Cash tells her like it was no big deal, and I was sure that Chance probably had it all under control, especially with how huge his wolf was, but it wasn’t him that I was worried about, but Mazie and my friends from California if they were there.
“We have to get to the school.” I told Cash, before I pushed past him, heading into the house to retrieve my keys, knowing that if Lexi and Jacob were there, then I needed to do everything in my power to protect them.
I was the reason that the two of them were here in the first place, and I wasn’t going to let anything happen to them because of me. They were the last two people that I truly felt a connection to from my old life, and I couldn’t imagine losing them too. I knew Lexi could handle herself, but as for Jacob, he was probably scared shitless seeing one of these wolves, whether he knew it was a werewolf or just thought that it was a wild animal, it would be enough to put him over the top.
As I raced up the stairs to Cash’s room, I could hear Cash and his grandmother downstairs having a conversation, but I didn’t even care what they were discussing at this point, even if it

was about me. All I could think about was getting to the school and making sure that my friends were okay.
I just prayed that Chance would do everything in his power to keep my friends safe, even though Lexi and him got off on the wrong foot. Then again, I was sure that he and everyone in this town that was a wolf would want their secret to remain safely hidden here, so he would do everything to secure that secret this town obviously has.
Thankfully, it didn’t take me long to find my keys, as I had remembered them being tossed on top of Cash’s dresser the night that we had returned here. Grabbing them I raced down the stairs, straight towards the front door, praying that I could get there in time. I honestly had no clue what I was going to do when I got there, but what I did know was I was going to get my
friends the hell out of there.
