Chapter 124-1

Raven’s POV

My heart raced heavily in my chest, as I took a step back, finding myself pinned against the wall with nowhere to go, as I listened to the sound of footsteps moving back in the small hallway to my grandmother’s bedroom. I had no clue who those footsteps could possibly belong to, and after the day I was having I feared the worst, but as the shadows grew taller, and neared the slight crack in, the door, a familiar voice instantly sent a wave of calmness throughout me.

It was the simple whisper of Mazie’s voice calling my name, that put not only me at ease, but also Chance, as I watched the tension immediately leave his posture, right before the bedroom door open, revealing Mazie with Lexi following a step behind her.

“Thank the Moon Goddess that you are okay.” Mazie said as soon as her eyes landed on me, but I couldn’t help but look at her with an estrange look on my face, having no clue who this Moon

Goddess person was.

Of course, I wasn’t that slow that I didn’t realize that it must be someone that the wolves must worship like a God, but this is the first time any of them had mentioned her. There was clearly a lot to their world that I was going to have to learn, and I had so many questions that I wanted to ask, but right now, I was too overwhelmed by everything that had happened to even think about absorbing more tonight.

Honestly, all I wanted to do was crawl into my bed, close my eyes, and hope that whenever I opened them that the last week or so would have been a nightmare. But unfortunately. I knew that was never going to happen, as the pain from everything I was feeling was too surreal to be a bad

dream.

Lexi didn’t hesitate when she walked into the bedroom to push past Mazie and then Chance, making her way straight towards me, before she pulled me into an embrace, as she said to me, “I should have been here for you. I didn’t think they would come for you this soon.”

My forehead wrinkled as my eyebrows furrowed, before I slowly pushed Lexi away from me,

wondering what on earth she was talking about, but by the sounds of it, she knew this was going

to happen, and she was the least bit surprised about their world. I tried to take a step back from

her, but found myself once again pinned against the wall, as I now stared at a friend of mine that I

have had ever since I could remember, wondering if I truly, even knew her.

Chance let out a low growl as he pushed back past Lexi, placing himself between the two of us, as

he said to her, “I would ask what you are, but I think right now it would suffice me to know if you are

a friend or foe.”

Lexi let out a chuckle, as she willingly took a step back from him, looking at Mazie behind her, before she casually moved, taking a seat on my deceased grandmother’s bed. Crossing her legs, she smiles slightly, before she says, “You need to calm down, Alpha, before you blow a gasket. If you are afraid of me hurting Raven, you need not fear. I have been entrusted with watching over her, ever since I can remember”

Well, Chance might be okay with plainly knowing if she was just a friend or foe, but I on the other hand, wasn’t. I now wanted to know who the hell she was, because by the sounds of it, she was placed in my life, and I had to wonder if she was even my friend.

Stepping forward, I stood directly beside Chance, before I asked her, “What do you mean by you were entrusted with watching over me? Who the hell are you? Are you like them?”

Lexi stared at me for what felt like an eternity before she uncrossed her legs and stood from the bed. Her eyes remained on me as she slowly raised her hand in the air with her taser in it, and at first, I wondered what the hell she was going to do with it, but then she surprised me, by opening the battery compartment. The batteries instantly fall from the taser, hitting the rug beneath her feet with a soft thud, before they slowly roll on the floor in my direction, stopping just inches from

my toes.
