Plucking one of the vials from the bed, she held it up to the light, giving it a good shake, before she pulled the top off and moved to sit on the bed beside me. Placing her one arm under my head, she hissed as her flesh touched mine, and I knew that the fire hadn’t remained inside of me, as my flesh perspired with beads of sweat.
Lifting my head up, Lexi says to me, “You must drink this now.”
I shook my head slightly in her hold, as my lips remained sealed shut, wondering if I could trust whatever she was trying to get me to ingest, as I knew whatever it was, it had to be some kind of witch’s potion.
“Raven, I’m only going to say this one more time to you. Open your damn mouth and take it, or else I am going to have to be forced to give it to you.” Lexi now said with irritation in her tone, as if she was losing her patience with me.
My eyes narrowed as I looked at her, wondering why she thought she had the right to force me to do anything, especially to make me take something that I had no clue what the hell was in it.
As I hesitated, I could hear my mates‘ growls growing louder in the hallway as I began to hear them pounding on the bedroom door, telling me that they too didn’t like the fact that I was locked away from them. My hands once again balled into fists, but this time by my sides, as I tried to bear the fire inside of me, all while I tried to gain enough strength to withstand Lexi if
need be.
But as I tried to muster enough of my strength, Jacob moved to my side, as he began to plead with me, “Raven, please, for all our sakes, take it.”
Another loud pound on the door at that moment rang into the room, drawing all our attention towards it. This time the door rattled at its hinges, telling me that Lexi’s little spell was no match for three Alphas, and I knew in no time that all three of them would be through the door. But I didn’t realize until Jacob turned back to look at me with widened eyes that that was what he was fearing, and the reason why he wanted me to take the potion.
It wasn’t until I heard Mazie call out, “Hurry!” did I honestly realize the severity of this moment. I guess I honestly didn’t even think about what was going to happen when all three of them made their way into the room at once, but by the sounds of the growls echoing into the room from the hallway, I guess it wasn’t something that any of us wanted to find out Not knowing if I was doing the right thing, and if I was putting trust where it shouldn’t belong. I parted my lips slightly, allowing Lexi to pour the cool liquid of her potion down my throat,
