Chapter 135-1
Chance’s POV

The haze that had taken over me left just as quickly as it had come, and it left me standing in the broken–down doorway to Raven’s grandmother’s bedroom, breathing heavily, as Chase stood directly beside me, coming out of his own haze. Both of us just stood there staring into the bedroom at our mate peacefully resting on the bed, both too scared to step over the threshold, worried that we would stir her heat back to life.
“What the hell just happened? No she wolf’s heat has ever been recorded to be that intense, nor had it come before she is of age.” Chase says to me, as he catches his breath, but I can see that her heat had affected him the most out of all of us, as he was the first to her side.
I wanted to ask him why exactly he was here, but right now, probably wasn’t a good time to stir the pot, especially with him. So, for now, I was going to settle for not knowing why, so that we could work together to get to the bottom of this, because his words held merit to them, as something was clearly off about all of this.
My eyes moved from Raven to her friend Lexi, who was standing directly beside the bed, gathering what looked like small vials into a red bag. There was now no need to ask her what she had done, as it was clear that she had given Raven something that would put her at ease, but I had to wonder how long the potion she had given her would work.
Sealing the bag shut, her eyes moved in my direction, and to my surprise she said to me, “I think that it is time the two of us talked.” As she walked towards me, leaving only Jacob in
the room with Raven.
Stepping to the side, Chase and I allowed Lexi to pass, before we followed her out to the living room, where Mazie was checking on Cash’s back. His flesh seemed to be somehow seared, making me wonder what the hell had happened to him, but I was only left to wonder that for a second, when Lexi moved over to him, taking a quick glance at it, before she said to him, “It will heal by days end. It’s only a flesh wound.”
I knew by her words that she had done this to him, and it made me realize that we weren’t dealing with just any juvenile witch, but one that had been properly trained her whole life. It also had me wondering if Lexi was truly our age, or if the face she wore was a facade, but that was one thing that you never asked a witch.
Lexi moved to Ms. Wilson’s chair, lowering the footrest back down, before taking a seat in it. Running her hands through her California blonde hair, taking a sigh of what seemed of relief. she finally turns her attention towards me, before she says, “It seems as if the other side may have their own witch in their employment.”

My head tilted slightly to the side while my eyes narrowed as I looked at her, realizing what she was insinuating, but I had to wonder why the hell they would want Raven to go into heat before she was of age. But then it hit me like a ton of bricks, how it had affected my brothers and me, and I realized why they would want this.
“Are you saying that a witch somehow induced Raven’s heat?” Chase asks, as he runs his hands through his hair, before he moves to lean against the wall, clearly taken back that the other side was now using witches to get what they want.
“That’s exactly what I am saying.” Lexi says nonchalantly, as she leans her head back against the back of the chair, almost as if she was worn out by what had just happened.
“I don’t understand. Why would they want to do that? Aren’t they trying to keep us a part, like they had done with our father and her mother?” Cash now asks as he moves to sit up all the way when Mazie was done assessing the wound on his back.
