There was no way in hell that I was going to leave her here with Raven alone, but I knew that neither my brothers, nor I could stay here in fear that Lexi’s little elixir would fail, and Raven’s heat would come back with a fury. Plus, by the looks of things, I honestly didn’t know how much juice was left inside Lexi, as she looked to be cooked herself for the night.
“Someone has to stay here with Raven and protect her.” I finally said, and of course, Cash was the first to volunteer, but he should be the first to know better.
I was just about to explain to him why it wasn’t possible for any of us to stay with her, when Mazie blurted out, “I will stay and protect Raven.” While her eyes moved to look directly at me, as if she was looking for my approval.
Of course, I wasn’t thrilled with this idea, because of what happened at the cemetery with her abandoning Raven, but what other choices did we truly have? At least with Mazie, we had a line of open communication between her and Cash so that we could be here in a matter of
minutes if need be.
“Fine.” I finally said, agreeing to allow her to be the one to stay, but to my surprise, both my brothers began to put up a fuss about it.
Raising my hand in the air, I let out a growl, shutting them both up, before I said to them, None of us can be the ones to stay here. We have all proven that we can’t control ourselves around her. Until Raven becomes of age, not one of us will be around her, especially alone. Do I make myself clear?”
Cash let out a growl, clearly not happy by the authority in my tone, but I knew that I had to make it an order if they were even going to consider listening to me. Chase, on the other hand, pushed past me, heading out the front door not even saying a word, but I knew by his actions he too wasn’t pleased with my decision, but in all honesty, when the hell did he start giving a shit about Raven.
Motioning to Cash that it was time to leave, he put up a slight fight, but eventually he gave in. as he knew that there was no other choice in the matter. Lexi got up from the recliner chair, following us outside the house, as she reassured me that Raven would be safe in her care.
Cash was already getting ready to do a sweep of the area, when I turned back to look at Lexi to tell her that Raven better be safe in her care, but as I turned back to see her standing on the porch, I noticed something seemed very off. Before I knew what was happening, Lexi disappeared before my eyes, but it wasn’t just her that disappeared, but the whole damn house, which included our mate.
