Moon Phased: The Triple Claim novel Chapter 269

Chapter 136-1

Chance’s POV

I should have known better than to trust a witch, but I was backed into a corner with Raven’s heat, and I honestly didn’t know what else to do but to put my trust in her. Thankfully, one of my kind was still with Raven, wherever that may be, and I had to believe that Mazie would do everything in her power to keep Raven safe, especially after the mishap at the cemetery.

Unfortunately, Cash’s line of communication with Mazie didn’t seem to be working, and I had to wonder if this was from Mazie, herself, blocking him out, or if it was Lexi that was controlling that too. Either way, I was going to lose my damn mind not knowing where Raven was, especially knowing that I had left her at the start of her heat. But I wasn’t the only one that was beginning to lose my mind, as both my brothers seemed to be affected by Raven’s disappearance too.

Of course, I had made a hard decision and went directly to my father about what had happened, and to my surprise he remained eerily calm, as he tried to convince me that this was for the best. For a man that had told me not to mess things up with Raven, like he had done with her mother, I found this very odd behavior coming from him, But then, on the other hand, he had a pack to look after, and if Raven was safely hidden from the rogues, that was one less person for him to have to worry about.

Unfortunately, Raven being gone was doing quite the opposite for me, as all I could do is think about her, and pray that she isn’t suffering through her heat alone. Even though a day in a half had passed, I could still smell her delicious scent, just as I smelt it, the night I walked into the house, leaving me feeling like I was on edge.

I was doing my best to keep myself busy helping my father prepare for what felt like dooms day, as it seemed the string of attacks that happened put our pack on high alert, and it was as if my father now feared the worst was yet to come. In a way, I knew that what happened at the school was just a mere taste of what was coming, but I just wished that I could get a direct explanation from my father about what we were truly up against.

It was clear that my uncle, and he had seen it all those years ago, and I had to wonder what they had done to survive it, but then, on the other hand, did they truly survive the attack that had happened to them?

My uncle all these years had been pretending that he was dead, and living a pitiful life of misery, alone, hidden deep within our land. After speaking with him, it was clear that he had never gotten over the attack that had scarred his flesh for life. He had spent the last twenty plus years planning his revenge, while he kept completely to himself.

On the other hand, come to think about it, my father may have suffered far worse than my uncle ever had, as he not only lost his fated mate, but his second chance mate too. He was forced to raise his three sons alone, which reminded him every day of one of the loves that he had lost. There was no doubt in my mind that Raven coming here was another reminder to him of what he had lost, but this time of what he had lost so long ago.

In a way, I am now seeing why he was trying to protect us, as it was clear he didn’t want his sons to suffer the same way that he and his brother had, but unfortunately, that was out of his hands, because there was no way for him to stop what was coming.

I just wish that my father would see the bigger picture, and realize that he wasn’t in this alone, and that if he would instill some of his trust in us, then we would be ten times stronger as a pack, joined together as one. But unfortunately, my father was stubborn as a mule, and he was still keeping the important information from my brothers and me.
