Chapter18-1
Raven’s POV
I wasn’t prepared for the attention that pulling into school with Chance was going to bring, especially when he moved to my door to open it. My stomach turned into knots as I sat there staring out the windshield at everyone glaring in our direction, obviously shocked to see me with Chance.
“Everything okay?” He asked me, drawing my attention to him, and I couldn’t help but whisper, “They’re all staring at us.”
Chance didn’t even bother to look at them, as a smile formed on his face, before he said to me, “Good, let them stare, and with any luck the whole school will know that you are mine. Also, I won’t have to worry about you batting those eyelashes of yours, to catch a ride home with another guy
I slapped at his chest as he chuckled, while heat brushed over my cheeks, knowing that he was referring to the guy at the waterhole yesterday. To say I was now slightly embarrassed about my actions yesterday was an understatement, but none of that clearly mattered now to him, as he makes a joke out of the event, but I couldn’t help but ask him, “Did it really look that bad?”
“Nah, it was actually kind of cute.” He tells me as he takes my hand, pulling me out of the truck, not giving me a chance to protest any longer, while he grabs our backpacks, throwing both over his shoulder with ease, before we begin to walk towards the school entrance together.
Whispers began among our fellow peers, as they all continued to stare in our direction, but then I heard one of the guys wearing a varsity jacket say, “Looks like our Alpha finally chose his mate.”
Chance let go of my hand, only to wrap his arm around my shoulders, pulling me into his side, as if he was verifying to them that I was his girl. I never in a million years would have guessed that agreeing to his offer would draw so much attention to us, but Mazie must have been right when she said that his word was pretty much the law around here, making him the Alpha of this school.
Here I was once again, not sticking to my plans to keep a low profile while I was here, but I was beginning to think that maybe I should say to hell with the plans I set for myself. Being by his side right now was making me feel like the old me, the one that used to be the life of the party, and the me that loved attention and overseeing everything.
Walking into the school, the halls instantly became eerily quiet, as Chance and I began to walk down the hallway that led to my locker, while all our peers now turned in our direction. Among those peers were Chase and Jessica, and if looks could kill, I would be dead on the spot, as Jessica was shooting me daggers.
There was no doubt in my mind that she was used to getting all the attention, but right now, the attention she was used to getting was now being directed at me. Maybe Chance was right, maybe I just might enjoy this a little more than I thought, as right now it felt like sweet revenge on her for thinking she was better
than me.
Once getting to my locker, Chance handed me my backpack, before he leaned down, placing a soft kiss on my lips, for everyone to see. I wasn’t much for PDA, but knowing that Jessica and Chase were watching, I couldn’t help but wrap my arms around his neck, drawing out the kiss just a few more seconds longer, to let her know that she was no longer the supreme female around here.
After what Jessica had said to me last night, I couldn’t help but think, game on, as someone clearly needed to put this girl in her place. She was beyond rude and inconsiderate, not just to me, but to Chance and Cash, and she needed to be taught a lesson. Honestly, I was going to let it all go as I didn’t care what she said about me, but bringing my parents into it, now that was just not right.
