Moon Phased: The Triple Claim novel Chapter 280

Chapter 140-2

Instead, I just stood there staring at her, not allowing her to see that her confession affected me in the least bit, as I said back to her, If this was true, then why did you kidnap me and bring me here? Wherever the hell, here is.

I waited for Lexi to answer me, but she just stood there staring at me, obviously shocked by my lack of compassion. But I was recently out of compassion, especially for those that had betrayed me and lied to me.

Now, I honestly, didn’t even feel like I knew myself, and in a way, I didn’t. My whole entire life was one big fat lie, started obviously by my mother. I understood that she was trying to protect me from this world that she had run away from, but did she ever think that just maybe she should have told me that I had a werewolf inside of me that eventually I needed to release?

There was no doubt in my mind that my mother knew all about Evan and his brother, and what they were, and what she was too. It leaves me now wondering, though, if she was successful in bringing her own wolf forward, or if she failed at doing so.

I mean we did take family trips every so often into the wilderness, but nothing so frequently that it would point to her letting her wolf out to run free. Hell, we lived in the middle of the damn suburbs of a city, with nowhere for her to remotely shift and go for a run without being

detected on a thousand different cameras.

Shaking all those thoughts from my head, knowing now wasn’t the time to be thinking about what can’t be undone, because right now I am in a situation that I need to find a way out of. I knew that I couldn’t stay here another second, locked away in this damn prison that Lexi had me in, because my birthday was approaching, and with my birthday came this damn super moon that had me on a timeframe.

My eyes at that moment moved from Lexi to Mazie, knowing that she had taken a loyal oath to my mates. I was now hoping and praying that that loyalty extended to me, because right now, I needed someone strong on my side if I was going to get the hell out of here.

Lexi had made it more than clear that she wasn’t going to let me leave, but honestly, what choice did she have if I made a run for it. It wasn’t like she could keep me here, and if she had been sent to kill me off, I was sure that I would have been dead by now.

Looking from Mazie to the open front door behind me, I stared into the darkness, knowing that it had to lead to somewhere. There was no way in hell that my grandmother’s house was just floating in space.

Chapter 140-2

Citann

I wanted to believe that once I stepped over that threshold that it would bring me out somewhere like a portal, but unfortunately, I wasn’t sure where the hell it would actually take me. But right now, does it really matter, as long as it wasn’t here, and it put my life back in my own hands?

Turning back, I looked at Mazie, wishing that she was the one that could be reading my mind right now, but unfortunately, it was Lexi that could do that.

I wouldn’t if I was you.Lexi says to me, but I didn’t even bother to look in her direction, as I continued to stare at Mazie, praying that she would understand what I was secretly asking of her.

Mazie’s eyes moved from mine to Lexi, but I continued to look straight ahead at Mazie, watching the expression on her face slightly change. For a moment, I thought that Lexi had her digs into Mazie, just as it seemed she had with Jacob, but then Mazie said to Lexi, I am sorry.

Before I knew what the hell was happening, Mazie was by my side, grabbing me by the hand. As she spun my body around, I began to run right behind her, straight towards the abyss of complete nothing, as I prayed that it led to somewhere, anywhere but here.

Without even a moment of hesitation, the two of us leaped right through the door opening, straight into the darkness. Mazie’s hand at that moment tightened around mine, and I could have sworn I heard her voice in my head say, Don’t worry Raven, I got you.
