Moon Phased: The Triple Claim novel Chapter 282

Chapter 141-2

Unfortunately, I clearly had no sense of direction, and there was no way that I was going to be any help trying to figure out where we were. One thing I did know was that we were no longer prisoners in my grandmother’s house, but I had to wonder if this was a different kind of imprisonment, because there wasn’t a damn sign of civilization.

Kneeling back to Mazie’s side, I could see the color returning to her cheeks, and her once pained face seemed to have eased slightly. It seems that we are in the middle of God knows where.I said to Mazie with a bit of concern in my voice, as I continued to look around praying that this was all just a mirage.

Mazie’s eyes opened, as she slowly tried to sit up, but I could see her wincing in pain as she did so. Once again, I didn’t know what I could do to help her, but I did my best to try and help her to sit. Once she was in a sitting position, she began to look around, before she raised her head in the air, taking what looked like a whiff.

Shaking her head gently, she says, You’re right, we are in the middle of nowhere. That California friend of yours sure has a sense of freaking humor.

She is not my friend.I said sharply back to Mazie, as I moved to stand back up, now more pissed than ever, knowing that Lexi still had tabs on my whereabouts.

Mazie extended her hand up to me, and I took it as I helped her now get gingerly to her feet, while she says to me, We need to find our way out of here, so that I can get you safely back to Beaumont to your mates.

Wherever here is. For all we know, Lexi could have us on a different continent.I said out of

frustration now towards myself, as I realized that we were far worse off than when we were stuck inside my grandmother’s house with shelter, food, and water. Now we were in the middle of God knows where, with nothing but trees surrounding us.

Mazie left out a chuckle, but quickly grabbed her ribs, while a slight whimper followed, before she said, We aren’t on a different continent. Actually, we are in the same mountain range as Beaumont, I just don’t know exactly where.

My eyes narrowed as I looked at her, wondering how the hell she knew this, because there was no way that she could know this from that little sniff of the air that she had taken. Seeing the confused look now on my face, Mazie points to a small plant beside me, as she says, That bush there is called Piratebush, and it is only found in the Appalachian

Mountains.

I stared at the bush Mazie was pointing at, wondering how the hell she knew the difference

between any of these plants, as they all looked the same to me. I guess that was the

difference between being raised in the city versus the country, as the closest thing we had to plants were houseplants.

Okay, then that is a good sign, right?I asked her, now thankful that I had her with me, because by the sounds of it we might just get out of here alive.

Mazie tilted her head to the side, cracking her neck back into place, before she straightened her body to her full height and said, Sure, it’s a good thing.

For some reason, I wanted to say that I heard slight sarcasm in her tone, but after everything we had been through these past couple of days, there was no wonder if there was. Nothing, and I mean nothing, had gone our way, and if anything, it felt like I was up against the world with no end in sight to the craziness of my new life.

Nothing could have prepared me for any of this, but I just wished that the people that were supposed to be my close family and friends would have been up front and honest with me. Unfortunately, that obviously didn’t happen, and now, I was stuck out in the middle of God knows where in the Appalachian Mountains, with a time clock to get back home.

Do you hear that?Mazie now asks me, and I shake my head, because I honestly didn’t hear a damn thing, but Mazie, on the other hand, had the hearing of a werewolf that was going to

come in handy.

It’s running water. We need to find where it is coming from. She then said, as she grabbed hold of my hand once again, and began to drag me in the direction she thought the sound was coming from.

Of course, me having no sense of direction, I let Mazie lead the way, as I knew anything would be better than what I would choose. The further she dragged me into the forest, I began to realize that I was hearing something, but it wasn’t exactly running water, but the light sound of something pounding.

The further we walked, the sound grew louder, and when the earth beneath our feet began to shake, that is when Mazie turned to me and yelled, Run!

I had no clue what the hell I was running from, but I held on tightly to her hand, as I ran as fast as my legs could carry me, praying to God that it wasn’t some kind of stampede. But as what was making the earth shake beneath our feet came into view, I realized that a stampede would have been so much better than what was actually running towards us.
