Chapter 144-1

Raven’s POV

Claim

Wait, you can speak?I asked as my jaw now hung low, while I just stood there staring at him, wondering if I had heard him right or if it was my damn imagination playing tricks on

  1. me.

The creature’s eyebrows furrowed as he stared back at me with what looked like confusion on his face, before he finally opened his mouth, and as plain as day says to me, Why wouldn’t I be able to speak? I’m not a mute, but, of course, your kind always thinks they are superior to my kind, and above us on the food chain.

Food chain?Slipped confusingly from my lips, as I wondered if he was using it as a metaphor, but quickly realized that he was being dead serious when it hit me that they had just been running from a rogue wolf for their lives.

Just the mere thought of it made my stomach turn, and, honestly, if I had anything in it, I probably would have lost it by now. But unfortunately, the last thing I had to eat was a couple of cookies the other night with Jacob, before all hell broke loose, making me now wonder if my stomach was turning because it was begging for food.

The creature’s eyes now narrowed as he looked at me, while his head tilted slightly to the side as if he was observing my reaction. Finally, his head straightens back up, before he says, You aren’t like the rest of your kind. Something is different about you.

His observation couldn’t be more correct, as I was nothing like the werewolves, especially the damn rogue ones that were chasing me. I mean, in a way, I was like Mazie, but in another way, I wasn’t, as I hadn’t been raised like them.

Honestly, I was still in partial denial that I was even one of them, but unfortunately, I knew that I couldn’t deny it much longer, as my birthday was now fastly approaching, along with this damn super moon.

Shaking my head, I admitted to him, You’re right, I’m not like them. I was raised believing I was nothing but a mere human. I honestly just found out that I was one of them, and I am sorry for my ignorance when it comes to this whole new world that my eyes are just being opened to.

The creature stepped slightly forward and raised his nose towards me, taking a deep inhale, before he took a step back. You don’t exactly smell like a rogue, but then again, you don’t really smell like your friend here either.

I had no clue what the hell he was talking about, other than I remembered the potent smell of

the rogues that had attacked me. Honestly, I prayed to God that I didn’t smell like one of them, because their wretched scent was almost unbearable to be around. As for Mazie, I thought that she always smelt like lavender, but assumed it was from the perfume that she

used.

The only thing that possibly made sense of why my scent was different was because my birthday wasn’t until tomorrow. It had me believing that maybe I fully didn’t smell like a werewolf because my wolf hadn’t fully come forward, nor was it going to unless I had all three of my mates mark me before this damn super moon.

Once again, just the thought of my birthday reminded me of the urgency to get back to Beaumont, and now that I knew this creature was intelligent, I needed to express to him how urgent it was for me to get back home to my mates.

My eighteenth birthday is tomorrow, and somehowI began to say to the creature as I rolled my eyes knowing damn straight how I got here, but I knew that was a whole other story that I didn’t have time to get into, so instead, I continued to say to him, My friend Mazie and I landed out here in the middle of God knows where. I need to get back to Beaumont as soon as I can, because I am on a time frame to have my mates mark me before some damn super moon.
