Moon Phased: The Triple Claim novel Chapter 288

Chapter 145-1

Raven’s POV

I must have dialed Chance’s number, what felt like half a dozen times, before I realized that he wasn’t going to answer my call. Unfortunately, Chance’s number was the only phone number I had memorized besides Mazie’s number back in Beaumont, leaving me with no one

else I could call.

Feeling beyond frustrated, like I could kick myself in the ass for not being more cautious and preceptive, I felt like I had lost my one and only chance to get back home. Knowing that the phone would be no good to me if I didn’t have anyone to call, I handed the satellite phone back to the male, who I now knew as Carl.

No luck?He asked as he retrieved the phone from me, while I disappointingly shook my head, as I looked away from him to Mazie, wishing that she would wake up, because I knew that she would know who to call.

Unfortunately, I didn’t foresee Mazie waking up any time soon, as she was lucky to be alive after the impact of our fall. Wrapping my arms around my chest, I just stood there trying to comfort myself, while I stared at Mazie, realizing that she was in this position because of

  1. me.

I was foolish for thinking that I could outsmart a witch, but it was clear that Lexi had foreseen that I would do something irrational. There was no doubt in my mind that she had purposely sent Mazie and I here, so that there was no way in hell that we could make it back to Beaumont for my birthday. But there was one thing that Lexi couldn’t have foreseen and that was Carl.

You say that your birthday is tomorrow?Carl asks me, and I turn my attention back to him, as I nod my head, worried now about what may happen on my eighteenth birthday, knowing that there may be a slim chance that I get my wolf.

I mean, the chances were pretty darn slim, according to Lexi and Mazie, but lately, I wasn’t willing to take my chances that it wasn’t going to happen. One thing I knew was that I was fortunate to be out in the middle of nowhere if it was going to happen, but I was also in this alone and uninformed of what to expect since Mazie was knocked out cold. Now, more than ever, I just wanted to get back to Beaumont, so at least I knew if it did happen, then I had someone by my side to help me.

Carl looked away from me, towards Mazie, and then to the doctor in the back of the tent, before he called out, Is the young she wolf stable to transport?

My head snapped back to look at him, realizing that there would only be one reason that he was asking the doctor, as I began once again to have hope thanks to Carl. But that hope was shortlived when the doctor says, The she wolf has been through a traumatic ordeal. I think it is best for her not to be moved at this time.

Carl turned to look at me, just before I lowered my head, knowing that there was no way in hell that I would leave here without Mazie. She was the one person that had stood by my side through all of this, and she had put her own life on the line to save mine. If anything, I owed her, and I couldn’t leave here without her, even if that meant I didn’t make it back to Beaumont

in time.

I could take you back to Beaumont, and then when your friend here is well enough to travel, I can ensure that she will make it back safely too. My people will make sure that she is well looked after in your absence. You have my word.Carl now says to me, and I honestly believed that he would stand by his word, but I had already made my mind up that I wasn’t going to leave Mazie behind.

Shaking my head, I looked back up at him, before I admitted to him, I can’t leave her, but thank you for the offer, and everything you have done for us.
