Chapter 147-1
Chance’s POV
Storming out of the house, I marched right over to Jacob, grabbing ahold of him by the cuff of his shirt, before I asked him through gritted teeth, “Where the hell is the witch?”
“If I knew I would tell you.” Jacob cried out before I watched him wince in pain, making me realize that I might be being a bit too rough with him, but right now all I wanted was to find
Raven.
Letting go of his shirt, Jacob quickly took a step back from me, while he says, “When Lexi’s spell to retrieve Raven failed, she jumped into the darkness after her.”
I just stood there staring at Jacob, realizing that I had made a huge mistake, entrusting Raven’s well-being in Lexi’s hands. At the time, I had thought that it was what was best for Raven, but now I can clearly see that it wasn’t. I had no clue why Raven decided to make a jump for it, but I knew that she had to have her reasons.
Seeing that I was the one now losing my damn mind, Cash pulls his own shit together and asks Jacob, “How the hell did you end up back here then?”
It was clear that Cash was trying to make sense of what had transpired. Something had to have happened in that house between Raven and Lexi to make her jump, and if Mazie went along with it, I was sure that it was in Raven’s best interest.
“Honestly, I don’t know how I did. When Lexi jumped, the house began to spiral out of control, and I held on for dear life. I was so thankful when the spinning finally ended, that I ran for the front door, just wanting to place my feet on solid ground.” Jacob admits to us, and it was clear that he was clueless about what the hell had gone down, but then again, he was just a
damn human in all of this.
But up until the other night, Raven thought that she was just a human too, and there was no doubt in my mind that this was a lot for her to be processing, especially without her mates helping her through it.
Knowing that Cash’s questions and my own that I had previously asked weren’t getting us the answers we needed, I moved once again towards Jacob, grabbing him by the shoulders. But this time, instead of shaking him, I noticed the old wooden chair directly behind him that Cash had been sitting in when I arrived, making me take a more sensitive approach with him.
Now that Jacob was sitting, I knelt in front of him, looking him straight in the eyes, before ! asked him, “Jacob, I need you to tell me exactly what happened before Raven made a jump for it.”

Claim
Jacob closed his eyes, as if he was trying to think back to what had happened. Seconds began to tick by as I watched Jacob closely, taking deep breaths as if he was trying now to calm himself. I was doing everything in my power to not lose my patience with him, as I kept reminding myself that he was our only hope of finding Raven.
When his eyes finally open, he takes one more deep breath, before he confesses to me,” Raven wanted Lexi to bring her back here to you and your brothers, but Lexi refused to do so, saying that she couldn’t because of her heat.”
A growl rumbled from my chest, hearing that Raven’s desire was to return to Beaumont to be with my brothers and me, and that the damn witch had stopped her from doing so. I knew that it had to be something major that had caused Raven to jump, and now I know exactly why. But now the question was, where the hell were Raven and Mazie? And why the hell would Lexi’s spell not work to bring her back, when all her other spells thus far had worked?
It was honestly a struggle to keep my shit together, as all I wanted to do was shift and run to the ends of the earth to find Raven, but I knew that there wasn’t enough time to do so, and
that I needed to keep pushing Jacob for the right answers.
