Chapter 149-2

Claim

“It looks like some kind of Renaissance festival.” Jacob says to me, as he tries to zoom in on a flag hanging on top of one of the tents, but unfortunately, he could only zoom in so far, revealing what looked like a red cross.

“What are you boys staring at?” My grandmother asks, startling Jacob and me, as she enters my room and moves straight towards my desk, where Jacob and I both were, still staring at the laptop screen.

Immediately, I stepped to the side of Jacob, giving her room to look at the screen, even though I knew there was a fat chance in hell that she would know who the tents belong to, but my grandmother was much older and wiser, and had seen a lot of things in her lifetime.

To my surprise, my grandmother stepped over to Jacob, who also moved to the side, allowing her a closer look at what was on my laptop screen. My grandmother stood there in silence for what felt like minutes, before she asked, “Are we heading to a bigfoot gathering?”

I knew that my grandmother’s mind had been off lately, but now I was beginning to worry that it might be worse than I had blown it off to be, as I wondered why on earth she would think this would have anything to do with bigfoot.

Jacob, on the other hand, got a good chuckle out of it, as he said, “Bigfoot. That’s a good one.”

My grandmother’s eyes narrowed as she stared at him, before she asked, “What is so funny? Those tents clearly belong to the bigfoots.”

I began to shake my head, thinking that maybe we shouldn’t be leaving my grandmother alone in the house all day by herself, as it seemed like maybe she might need

around-the-clock care.

But then my grandmother points to the screen, as she says, “Look how tall the tents are. My Edgar had a friend named Carl, who was one of them. I remember when he came to visit, he preferred to stay in a tent outside so he could be free and be himself when he was here. I’m telling you those tents right there are the same exact tents that Carl used to pitch right outside on this ranch.”

I could see the frustration in my grandmother’s eyes, as she believed she knew what she was talking about, and in all honesty, I didn’t now disbelieve her, but I also didn’t know if everything she was remembering was a hundred percent accurate. What I did believe is that my

One thing I knew about the supernatural world was that we loved a gathering, and if this truly was a gathering among them, then I was sure that every one of their kind from this region. would be invited, especially to see the immense number of tents present.

Wrapping my arm around my grandmother’s shoulder to comfort her, I say to her, “I believe you, but I need to know if you by chance have this Carl’s number, so that maybe we can confirm it, and see if we can’t get ahold of someone there to see if Raven is there too.”

My grandmother begins to shake her head, before she lowers it and says, “Unfortunately, Carl has passed, and I have no number for his next-of-kin.”

I did my best to hold back the growl simmering in my chest, as I knew that my grandmother was trying to help, but right now, I needed more than her crazy ass theory of these tents belonging to bigfoot. Then again, did it really matter who the hell they belonged to, as I now had no other choice but to go there myself, because honestly, it only made sense that it was Raven.

Of course, I needed to confirm with my brother that he didn’t know the phone number, but if he did, then why wouldn’t it be saved in his phone? Using our mind link, I sent him a message. to come back to the house, as I wanted to show him what Jacob had found, but I also wanted him to know that I planned on leaving to go there, as I couldn’t just sit around waiting for Raven to return to us, especially with her birthday coming tomorrow.

As I waited for my brother to get here, I began to pack a bag, as Jacob continued to mess around on my laptop, trying to find better images of the area for me. I knew if I left before dark, then I had a chance of making it there before nightfall tomorrow, so that I could be there with her for her birthday, that’s if it was even her trying to call.

I knew it was a chance I was taking to leave Beaumont, but it was a chance I was willing to take because I was going mad just sitting around here waiting for a miracle. Chance and Chase were here, and if she miraculously showed up, then one of them would be here waiting for her, but I, myself, couldn’t just sit here, if there was the slightest chance she was out there trying to call us for help.

Honestly, I would never be able to live with myself, knowing that she was alone on her birthday, when she had three mates that were supposed to take care of her. I hated that I was the brother that wore his heart on his sleeve, but then again, I wouldn’t want to be as cold-hearted as Chase or have the stress of the pack on my shoulders like Chance. I guess we all have our roles, and it was obvious that my place was to make sure that Raven was cared for.

being missing right now, was killing me. There was no doubt in my mind that Chance was going to be against me going, but I honestly didn’t need his approval to go, as I was planning on going whether he agreed or not, because my gut was telling me that I needed to do this.

But to my surprise, when he finally showed up, he was in agreement with me, making me believe that he too thought there had to be something behind the numerous missed calls from West Virginia. Unfortunately, he didn’t quite believe that Raven was behind the calls, but even though he didn’t believe this, he couldn’t just dismiss that someone had desperately tried to get ahold of him, leading us all to believe that someone there needed our help.
