Chapter 150-2

Although after meeting them, they really aren’t anything like they are portrayed to be, leaving me to wonder where the hell all the crazy ass stories of them came from. Everyone that I had met today seemed so kind and here on this retreat to become one with nature, making me realize that they probably weren’t capable of even hurting a fly.

As I sat there staring into the fire, watching the flames dancing away, I couldn’t help but wonder why the rogue wolf had been chasing them, as I was sure that none of them would have done anything to provoke him.

Looking up from the flames, I turned to look at Carl, ready to question him about it, when the sound of a howl filled the air, making both of us get to our feet. Honestly, I had no clue what the howl meant, other than a wolf was in the area, but the look on Carl’s face was enough to tell me that this wasn’t a good thing.

“I think it’s best if you joined your friend in the medical tent.” Is all Carl said to me before he went to walk away, but I was quick to grab hold of his arm to stop him, needing to know what exactly was happening here.

“Carl, what is going on? Is it the rogue wolf that was chasing us earlier?” I asked him, just before another howl rang out, making us both turn once again to look in the direction that it

had come from.

Carl shook his head as he stared into the darkness of the forest, before he said to me, “It doesn’t make any sense. They normally leave us alone, but today, for some reason, this one won’t leave well enough be.”

My hand slipped from Carl’s forearm, as I knew the reason why. It was obvious that it was me that the rogue wolf wanted, but even after being hundreds of miles away from Beaumont, how was this even possible? Was there a way that they could sense me or was there an APB out to all the rogue wolves in the world with my damn picture? Nevertheless, I was here putting all their lives in danger, just like I had with everyone back in Beaumont.

“I have to leave here now.” I said out loud, not exactly to Carl, but to myself, as I knew that it wasn’t safe, not only for all of them, but for myself too.

Plus, staying here was putting Mazie’s life in direct danger once again. Carl had just told me that Mazie still needed the night to heal, and I knew that I couldn’t stay here, because if I did, then I would be taking the chance of the rogue finding her. After losing so many people that I cared about, I couldn’t lose her too.

my heels, while I began to head to the opposite side of the camp, knowing that I had a better chance of making it if I headed in the opposite direction of the howl. But who the hell was I

kidding?

I knew that once I stepped out of this camp, I was as good as dead, as I had no clue for one where the hell I was at. Secondly, I had nothing here to defend myself with, and I knew that there was no way in hell that I was going to be able to fight off a rogue wolf with my bare hands, especially the one that I had seen earlier. But regardless of my own chances of survival, I couldn’t continue to put all these people’s lives in danger, especially knowing that it

was me that it was after.

“Raven, where are you going?” Carl asks me, as I turn around slightly to see that he is following me.

Not stopping, I continued towards the other side of the camp, while I said to him, “I am surprised that you haven’t figured it out by now. That rogue wolf isn’t after you or your comrades. It’s after me.”
