Moon Phased: The Triple Claim novel Chapter 300

Chapter 150-3

“What? Why?” Carl asks, as he makes his way now beside me, and after saving Mazie and my life, I believe that he at least deserved some kind of explanation.

Stopping, I turned back just in time to hear another howl, but this time it was closer than the last one, before I turned to look at Carl, knowing that I needed to get the hell out of here. Shaking my head, I wished that I had a better explanation to give him, but unfortunately, I didn’t know myself why the rogue wanted me.

So, unfortunately, all I could say to him was, “I honestly don’t know why the rogues are after me, but I believe it has something to do with my ancestors. All I know is that they keep coming after me, and that they are responsible for my grandmother’s death. If I stay, then there is a chance that it will kill your people to get to me, and I can’t allow any more blood on my hands. Please take care of my friend and make sure that she makes it back to Beaumont.

Once again, I turned on my heels, this time fighting back tears that were threatening to spill from my eyes, as it was hard leaving Mazie behind, but I knew that she at least had a fighting chance if I left now. It had me really questioning the choices I had made that led me here, but then again, I was free from Lexi and her spells, and if I was going to die, then it was going to be on my own accord.

My feet froze as I stepped to the very edge of the camp, as my heart began to pound in my chest, while I turned back, taking one last look at the camp. Carl was nowhere in sight, telling me that he indeed was going to just let me walk out of this camp, in the hope that I would lead the rogue wolf away from his people.

My eyes moved to the tent that Mazie was resting in, and I said a silent prayer, praying that when she woke up tomorrow, that her body would be healed. If one of us was going to make it back to Beaumont, it needed to be her, as she had put her life on the line for me far too many times.

Taking a deep breath, I moved to turn around, but froze when another howl rang out, this time sounding like it was on the other edge of the camp. It was clear that time had run out, and if I

an engine roared to life. My head turned to my right, and my hand instantly moved to cover my eyes, as a bright light beamed straight at me, blinding me completely. I just stood there frozen like a deer in headlights, as I had no clue what the hell was happening.
