Chapter 151-1
Clayt
Chapter 151-1
Raven’s POV
“Get in!” I heard a familiar voice say, as I slowly removed my hand from covering my eyes, to see Carl in the driver’s seat of a sport utility vehicle.
The thought of getting into the vehicle was tempting, but I knew if I got in with him, then I would be putting his life in direct danger. This was exactly what I was trying to avoid by running as far away from this camp as possible, and I knew that even though right now I was limited to options, I couldn’t allow Carl to put his own life in danger because of me.
Shaking my head, I said to him, “Carl, it’s not safe for you to be around me. That rogue is going to follow me, and it’s not going to stop hunting me until it gets what it wants.”
“Exactly. That’s why we have to lead it as far away from here as we can. Now, get in!” He now says with what sounds like authority in his tone, as if he wasn’t going to take no for an
answer.
I stood there for a moment just staring at him, realizing what he was trying to do, but I knew there had to be an alternative way for me to get the hell out of this camp where it didn’t involve him being involved. Unfortunately, I had no clue how to drive this damn thing, and in the middle of the night, it probably wasn’t the best of ideas for me to try and learn.
My only other option was to make a run for it, and I knew there was no way in hell I would get too far from the camp before the rogue caught me, which was limiting the rate of survival on
my own.
Turning my head away from Carl, I looked in the distance at where the headlights were pointing, and I could see the clear shot between where I stood right now, and the edge of the tree line. I knew if I made a run for it that I would make it to the forest covering, but I had no clue what the hell I was going to do after I made it there, other than run as fast as I could, leading this damn rogue away from this camp.
Honestly, I hadn’t really thought out a plan, nor did I have time to think of one, but one thing I knew was that I couldn’t allow a repeat of what happened at the school here, especially since there were children involved.
A low growl rumbled through the camp, catching my attention, making me turn back to look behind me at the many tents of innocent campers. I knew that at any moment that these campers would be emerging from their tents in fear to see what was happening, and I couldn’t allow them to get caught between the rogue and me.
As I stared back the way I had just come, I could see in the distance a set of red eyes

emerging from the darkness, making me gasp, knowing that my time had run out, as my heart began to heavily beat in my chest. Honestly, I didn’t know how the hell I was going to make it out of this one alive, but I knew that I couldn’t just give up.
Unfortunately, I was hundreds of miles away from Beaumont, and I now knew the reason why I had survived all the times that I had before now. There was no doubt in my mind that it was due to the Ryder brothers and Mazie, but however, right now, I am fresh out of both, and I had to find a way to survive without them.
But as the set of red eyes slowly prowl towards me, I find myself inadvertently taking a step back, as my body becomes consumed with fear. Honestly by now, I would have thought that 1 would be numb to fear, especially with all the trauma I have been through these past couple of months, but I guess fear isn’t something that you can just get over.
