Chapter 151-2
Chapter 151-2
Back in Beaumont, I somehow reached deep inside myself and found the courage to face the rogues that were attacking, but I realized that the courage came from the fear of losing people that I cared deeply about. But right now, if I led this rogue away from camp, I knew that Mazie would be fine, and all the others that I deeply cared about were nowhere remotely close to me to worry about them getting in the crossfire. There was no doubt in my mind that this rogue would leave these innocent people alone if I was not hidden among them, leading
me to realize what I had to do.
Shaking away the immense fear, my body unfroze, and I was just about to turn and make a run for it, when I felt an extremely large hand take hold of me from the back, pulling me into the vehicle. Before I knew what was happening, the sport utility vehicle’s engine roared to life, taking off without warning, popping a partial wheelie with my damn legs hanging outside the vehicle.
Carl held firmly onto my one arm, trying to reel me into the vehicle with his one hand, as his other hand remained tightly around the steering wheel, while he drove us away from the camp at a high rate of speed. My own hands reached for anything in sight that I could grip onto, as I tried to help pull my body into the vehicle, while a low growl roared from directly behind us, telling me that the rogue was now hot on our tail.
As I tightened my grip on what was probably the oh shit bar, I held my breath and bit my bottom lip, as I finally pulled my legs into the vehicle, sitting upright in the seat. When my eyes focused on what was in front of us, I couldn’t help but reach towards my right, praying there was a damn seat belt in this thing, as we were flying through the forest at an alarming speed, which was scaring the shit out of me.
Thankfully, my hand found the seat belt, but as I moved to click it into place, I noticed that there was more to be afraid of than just Carl’s driving at the moment, as my eyes caught the rogue only a few feet behind us. Before I could even let out a scream to warn Carl, the rogue rammed into the side of the sport utility vehicle, raising its rear wheels slightly off the ground. When the wheels touched back down to the covering of the forest, it sent us flying off course, and I couldn’t help but let out another scream thinking that we were going to die at any moment, as my hands held on tightly to the bar in front of me.
Carl thankfully had both hands on the wheel and seemed to know what he was doing when it came to driving this vehicle, as he was quick to steer us back on course, avoiding a tree that was in our direct path just in the nick of time. My heart was now racing a mile a minute in my chest, as I turned my head slightly to see that the rogue wolf wasn’t going to give up any time soon in his pursuit of me. The only good thing was that the camp was now safe, but as for Carl and me, well, that was a different story, as it was clear it was going to take a miracle for

us to survive.

Weaving and bobbing around the trees, with no beaten-down path through the woods, Carl was doing his best to stay ahead of the rogue wolf, but with having to reduce the speed to make it safely through the denser area we were now in, the rogue wolf was once again right on us. But this time, instead of ramming into the side of the vehicle like he had done last time, he moved to my side of the vehicle, as he clearly had his eyes set on me.
He was so close that I could feel his warm breath breathing down on me, as the potent smell of rotten eggs made me gag. I leaned in as far as I could into the center of the vehicle, trying to avoid his jaws which were now snapping at me, as I kept my eyes on him. For a moment, I thought about trying to spin around to give him a good kick to try and throw him off, but I knew that probably wasn’t a good idea, especially at the speed we were going.
“Take the wheel.” Carl yells at me over the sound of the engine, making me turn to look at him, thinking that he was losing his damn mind, thinking that I was capable of driving this
thing.
But Carl didn’t even give me a chance to put up an argument with him, as his hands were already off the steering wheel in the process of unbuckling his seat belt, forcing me to lean in as close as I could towards him, while I took the wheel.
After his seat belt was off, he reached over and grabbed hold of my leg, as he said to me, Whatever happens, keep your foot on the gas.” Before replacing his foot over the gas petal
with mine.
I was now practically sitting on his lap, and if it wasn’t for the seat belt holding me in place, I probably would be. But Carl didn’t remain sitting too much longer after he removed his foot from the gas, as he moved to a standing position, turning himself around to face the rogue
wolf.
Out of the corner of my eye, I could see fur beginning to sprout from his flesh, and it didn’t take a rocket scientist to realize that he was shifting into his other self, as the sport utility vehicle began to dip with his massive weight to that side. I tried to keep my eyes ahead of me, but it was hard to do as a low growl echoed from right beside me.
It wasn’t until I turned my head to see Carl now fully shifted into his bigfoot self, did I realize the massive teeth that he now had, making me wonder if he just might be able to take on a rogue wolf. He clearly had the size, but I wasn’t so sure that he had it in him to kill, but right now, it was a kill or be killed kind of situation.
Through what sounded like gritted teeth, Carl says in a low, deep voice to me, “Get as far away from here as you can.”

“What?” Came out of my lips, as I wondered why it sounded like he was talking about me solely getting out of here, but it didn’t take me long to realize that he was.

Before I knew what was now happening, Carl let out another growl, but this time he leaped off the vehicle just as the rogue wolf rammed into it, taking the rogue wolf with him. But unfortunately, Carl was a second too late removing the rogue, as the force from the rogue wolf sent the vehicle flying off balance, straight towards a massive oak tree.
