Chapter 152-2

Not able to bear the unknown another second, I asked him, “What’s in the bag?” As I nudged my head towards it, while I loaded the rest of our supplies and gear into the back of the

vehicle.

Jacob let out a nervous chuckle, like he had been busted doing something wrong, telling me that whatever it was in the bag that it was something he shouldn’t have. Staring at the black duffle bag, it didn’t take me long to realize who was the actual owner of it, because our town’s name was embroidered on the side of it in big bold letters. It was clear that whatever was inside this bag Jacob had stolen while we were busy loading the sport utility vehicle from the

fire station.

A low growl rumbled in my chest, as my eyes moved back to look at Jacob, who took a step back from me, throwing his hands up in the air while he says, “I know that I probably should have asked, but I was pretty sure they wouldn’t just let us borrow it. So, I just took it instead, because I know it will make it easier to find her. And before you give me the third degree, I plan on returning it as soon as we get back.”

“What’s in the bag?” I repeated myself through gritted teeth, hoping that it wasn’t something my father was going to make me pay for when we returned home for taking, although, I was now less upset that Jacob had stolen it, knowing that it was hopefully going to help us find

Raven.

“It’s a military issued satellite communication transmitter, normally used for military rescue missions. Honestly, I have no clue how your fire station got its hands on one, but I am glad that they did because I will be able to use its satellite’s connection capability to stay connected online in the middle of this forsaken forbidden forest.” Jacob explains to me while his eyes look around the small space in front of us of complete nothing, and even though most of what he said to me sounds gibberish, I did understand the part that was important, which was we weren’t going in blind.

In all honesty, at this point, I couldn’t even be upset with him, nor could I be pissed that I had him with me, because if this thing worked as he says it’s going to, then we should be able to find this camp in no time.

Not saying a single word to him, I moved back to the truck, making sure that I had everything before shutting the doors and locking it up. Turning, I noticed Jacob was just standing beside the sport utility vehicle, like he wasn’t sure if we were good, but as of now we were.

Moving towards him, I told him to get in, as I moved myself to do the same, buckling my harness around me, because I knew this was going to be one bumpy ass ride ahead of us, as I had already scoped out the terrain on the map before leaving Beaumont.

Chapter 152-2

I waited until Jacob was buckled, before I put the vehicle into gear, pulling out from behind the truck, heading straight towards an old maintenance trail I had found on the ranger map of the area. Unlike Jacob, I couldn’t hack into military satellites, but I did have my connections of being able to get my hands on maps of the terrain.

Thankfully, being an Alpha wolf had its advantages, and one of those advantages was being able to ask for help from other Alphas in the area. Although we were heading into state game lands, the nearby Alpha had updated maps of the terrain that bordered his lands, and right now those maps were coming in handy.

Thus far, the terrain was smooth sailing on the sport utility vehicle, but I knew that wasn’t going to be the case when we reached higher ground where the camp was. But with any luck, this thing that Jacob had taken from the fire station just might help us maneuver through

that area.
