Moon Phased: The Triple Claim novel Chapter 306

Chapter 153-1

Cash’s POV

Clam

The shift happened before I could even try and reason with my wolf, but in all honesty, there was no reasoning to be had, as it was clear that Raven had been injured, and we needed to get to her, even if that meant leaving behind her human friend. Faintly, I could hear Jacob calling out my name, but my wolf didn’t even bother to turn in his direction, because right now he had a onetrack mind and that was to follow the scent of honey, hoping that it would lead us straight to Raven.

Leaping over the fallen tree, my wolf began to take off, but within a few steps he froze when a ratchet stench fully filled my sense of smell. It wasn’t until I looked down, did I see the earth beneath my feet covered in the thick crimson liquid, making me take a few steps back, as my heart began to race in my chest seeing so much blood. It wasn’t the blood per se that had my stomach in a knot, but the thought that this blood might belong to Raven, as her scent now lingered heavily in the surrounding air.

Is that blood?Jacob cried out from behind me, drawing my attention towards him. I could tell right away that the sight of the blood was clearly affecting him, as his face was completely flush.

Jacob’s eyes widened as he continued to look past me at the blood, before he barely says to me, I think I am going to puke.

Bending over, his body completely disappears from my sight behind the fallen tree, but unfortunately, I could hear him relieving himself of what he had eaten on the road trip here. My wolf shook his head, trying to dismiss what Jacob was doing as he turned his attention back to what was in front of us, trying to focus on our surroundings to piece together what had happened here.

Stepping forward, my wolf lowered his head to the ground, before he took in a whiff of the blood coating the earth. Instantly, both my wolf and I were wishing that he hadn’t done that, as the stench was potent and burned my nostrils as if I had inhaled fire itself.

On the other hand, there was no doubt in my mind that this blood wasn’t Raven’s, giving me hope that she was out here alive. Unfortunately, it was clear that even though Raven was hundreds of miles from Beaumont, she was still being hunted by rogues, making me realize even if she wanted to run back to California, she wouldn’t be safe there.

The only place that would be remotely safe for her was with my brothers and me, as we were the only ones on this planet willing to die for her. But as I continued to scan the bloodcoated earth in front of me, I noticed that maybe we weren’t the only ones that were willing to lay our

lives on the line for her, as a huge chunk of brown fur laid within the blood, that was clearly not a wolf’s.

Quickly, I moved to the fur, taking a whiff of it, verifying that I was correct about it not coming from a wolf. Instantly my thoughts went back to the conversation we had with my grandmother about whom the tents belonged to. It was clear that my grandmother wasn’t losing her mind, as this fur definitely belongs to a bigfoot.

In a way, I was shocked, because they aren’t known for fighting, but then again, if one is being attacked, there is no telling what one would do to survive or keep those that they love safe. Honestly, I was more than okay with the thought of them fighting, especially if it was against the rogues to keep Raven safe.

Please tell me that isn’t Raven’s blood.I heard Jacob’s voice say, as my wolf turned once again to see him coming around the side of the tree where the roots were uprooted from the ground.

But my eyes only remained on him, until I heard the crunch beneath his feet, making us both look to the ground where he stood. What the hell is this?Jacob asked, making my wolf quickly move to his side to see broken pieces of plastic and glass shattered on the ground.
