Chapter 153-2
Chum
Leaning down, Jacob picks up a piece of the plastic that clearly had something written on it, before he stands up holding it in front of him, as his head tilts to the side while he blankly stares at it.
“What the hell is a Yama?” Jacob asks, clearly not putting two and two together, as it is now apparent that an accident has happened here with a similar sport utility vehicle just like the one we had driven here.
Dismissing Jacob’s question, my wolf began to sniff around in the area that Jacob stood in, and I could now smell Raven’s scent even more predominant. Instead of making me feel better, it was actually making me worry, because it was clear that she was involved in a recent accident.
With my wolf’s nose pointed to the ground, he began to try and track Raven’s scent, but her scent was sparse the further I moved away from the tree. The smell of the bigfoot began to overwhelm what was left of her sweet honey scent that was now barely lingering.
My instinct was telling me to track the bigfoot, as I felt like if Raven was hurt, he would have carried her back to his camp and to safety. As for the rogue, by the amount of blood that was present, I would say that he was dealt with and shouldn’t be a concern no more, but that didn’t mean there wouldn’t be more to come.
“I think there was an accident here. Maybe we should report this to the park ranger. Someone could be hurt, wondering around out here alone.” Jacob says, making my wolf turn back around to look at him, in disbelief once again.
There was no way in hell I was going to allow him to report this to the park ranger when it was clear that all parties involved were from the supernatural world. This little accident needed to stay among us to take care of, and I was going to make sure that it did. The last thing I needed was to deal with a search party of humans, getting in my damn way of finding Raven.
My wolf let out a low growl, as he slowly walked towards Jacob, and I quickly reminded him that Jacob was just a mere human that couldn’t sense what happened here like we could. Thankfully, my wolf relaxed, allowing me to take back the reins so I could shift back into my human form and explain to Jacob what had actually occurred here.
“Shit. You got all that from just smelling the ground?” Jacob asked me, as I pulled a fresh shirt over my head, realizing that I was going to have to make a path around the tree, because there was no way in hell that I was going to be able to leave him behind.

There was no doubt in my mind that if I had taken off in my wolf form following the scent of the bigfoot on my own, that Jacob would have fallen victim to the wilderness, ultimately leading to his own search party.
“Yes, and don’t go calling in back up unless I tell you to. The last thing I need is humans involved.” I explained to him, and I could see right away that my choice of words offended him, but he needed to understand exactly what we were dealing with here.
“If you go calling the park ranger, there is a good chance that he will just slow us down trying to find Raven, or worse yet, they will scare away the camp of bigfoots.” I now tried to explain to him, hoping he understood that those of the supernatural world tended to shy away from humans and especially their authorities.
“I get it. Your kind doesn’t mix well with mine.” Jacob says as he lowers his head, clearly taking what I said out of context, because truth be told, I didn’t have a problem per se with humans, I just liked to deal with matters like this without their assistance.
In all reality, Jacob wasn’t a bad guy, and if it wasn’t for all this shit we had going on, I probably could see the two of us hanging out together with Raven without a problem. Unfortunately, though, we hadn’t been granted time like that to get to know each other, because ever since he and Lexi showed up, all hell has broken loose.
It actually had me wondering if the witch’s presence had sparked up the rogues‘ pursuit of Raven, leaving me thinking that one of them may have been the person that had hired her. But right now, I don’t have time to think about any of that, as I needed to get us back on the path of finding Raven.
Clearing as much of the tip of the tree away that I could from the ground, I got back into the sport utility vehicle with Jacob by my side and carefully made my way over what was left of the tree. When we cleared the tree and were back on the path, I roared the engine to life, heading in the direction that my nose was taking me, as I prayed to the Moon Goddess that my instinct was right.
Sure enough, it wasn’t long before the field of white tents appeared in front of us, proving that my instinct didn’t fail me. But as I slowed the vehicle down, taking caution as we approached, I wasn’t expecting to be greeted in mass form at the edge of their camp.
It was clear that whatever happened here had their whole camp on edge, as it wasn’t like their people to be standing on guard with a weapon in their hand. Bringing the vehicle to a halt at the edge of their camp, I turned the vehicle off before raising my hands in the air, letting them know that I wasn’t a threat to them.
Jacob instantly followed suit, raising his own hands, as it didn’t take long for them to completely surround us.

“Please tell me you have a plan.” Jacob whispered under his breath, before a whimper came from his lips, as it was clear that he realized that we were surrounded.
But in all honesty, I wasn’t worried, as I knew that if I meant no harm to them, then no harm would come to me, or at least that was what I was banking on. Not making any sudden moves, I sat there patiently waiting for whoever was in charge to show themselves.
Sure enough, my patience paid off, as the men in front of us parted, letting a tall man walk into the circle, before closing it back up. Of course, the Alpha inside of me automatically eyed up the man, and as he did, I noticed the bruising on his knuckles, telling me that he had recently been in a fight, since they weren’t quite healed just yet.
Knowing that this had to be the bigfoot I was looking for, I raised my head in the air taking a good whiff, confirming my suspicions, before I lowered my head back down, staring him straight in the eyes, while I said to him, “I am here for my mate.”
