Moon Phased: The Triple Claim novel Chapter 309

Chapter 154-2

After making our way clear across the campsite, the man that was leading me finally came to a halt in front of a pure white tent with a red cross on it. By the looks of things, I knew that this had to be the tent that Jacob had pulled up on my laptop screen back home from where the calls had come from.

The man stood blocking the doorway to the tent, as he turned around to look at me, before he says, Her injuries she had sustained seemed to be all healed, and the doctor said that she should be good to travel today.”

I stared at the man blankly, wondering what kind of injuries Raven had suffered from the accident, but also, I couldn’t help but find myself confused about how she could possibly have healed herself in such a short period of time.

But then it registered what today was, and it had me wondering if just maybe Raven had gotten her wolf without us marking her as our mate. After everything we had learned thus far, I knew that it had to be a long shot, but there was no other explanation for her being able to heal so quickly.

Instantly, butterflies began to dance in my stomach, as just the mere thought of what it would mean to our bond if Raven truly had received her wolf today. There would be no more questions on her behalf about whether being with all of us was right or wrong, as she would feel the fated pull of the bond and the desire to be with all three of us.

As the man stepped to the side, pulling the entrance open to the tent to allow me entry, my hands instantly began to sweat, knowing that everything could change as soon as I stepped inside and made eye contact with Raven for the first time since she became of age.

Honestly, I have never been so nervous in my life as I am right now, as excitement and worry both consume me at the same time, thinking about the last time we were together, and how we were interrupted. Just the tiniest thought about that night had me wanting to leave Jacob here to find his own damn way back, so that I could have one night to be alone with Raven in a whole different area code and state than my brothers.

But unfortunately, I knew the quicker I returned with Raven to Beaumont, the safer that she would be, with the three of us united in protecting her against the rogues. Knowing that I needed to do what was best for her and her safety, I swallowed down all my desires as I took a deep breath and entered the tent.

Instantly, my eyes began to scan the makeshift hospital, and I couldn’t help but give these bigfoots credit where credit was due, because if I didn’t know I was standing in the middle of a tent, I would believe that I was in a real hospital. Unfortunately, that was all I was noticing,

because as I scanned the beds that were occupied, not a single soul present in them was Raven, leaving me to believe that I had been doublecrossed.

Turning on my heels, I found myself face to face with the man that had led me here, making me take a slight step back, because I didn’t want to start a fight, knowing that Raven had to be somewhere either within their camp or close by.

To my surprise, the man walked around me, leaving me standing there bewildered, as I heard him call out, Where is the she wolf?

Turning slightly back around, my eyes met with a man dressed in a white doctor’s coat, pointing towards an unoccupied bed, as he says, She was right there a moment ago.”

Not wasting a second, I moved to the bed, placing my hand on the thin mattress, feeling the warmth that someone indeed had just got up from it. Leaning down, I moved to take a long inhale but stopped when my eyes noticed a long blonde hair strand lying on the pillow.

Just as I moved to pick it up, I heard the man that had led me here say, There you are. Your mate is here to take you back home.

Unfortunately, I knew even before I turned around who was now standing behind me, as her scent had been around me every single day of my life. I couldn’t believe that I didn’t sense it until now, but now that I had, I realized that she was the she wolf that they were talking about.

As my heart sank in my chest once again, I slowly turned to confirm that it was indeed Mazie. When my eyes met with Mazie’s, I felt a mix of emotions, as I was happy to see that she was alive, but I was also now even more concerned than ever about Raven.
