Chapter 156-1

Raven’s POV

As I slowly began to come around, my eyes winced tightly together, as my head felt like it was going to explode. Moving one of my hands to my head, the tips of my fingers barely graze my flesh, before I winced once again, but this time leaving out a hiss of pain.

My heart began to race in my chest, as my eyes slowly began to open while I remembered the accident that had ultimately caused the aftermath of the pain I was feeling right now. As my eyes finally fully open, and I tune into my senses, I feel the warmth of the fire on my flesh before my eyes focus on a fireplace only a couple of feet from where I lay. Getting my bearings, I realized that I was on an old plaid couch, in what looked like a small log cabin, but the question now was how had I gotten here?

My eyes made a quick scan of the room, while I remained silent, trying to listen for any sounds in the cabin that would alert me to someone else’s presence, but not a noise could be heard other than the crackling of the logs in the fire. Slowly and gingerly, I pushed myself up on my elbows, feeling a bit sore, knowing that my head mustn’t be the only thing that I had hurt in the crash.

With sunlight peering through the small windows, it was clear that I must have been out cold all night, and that someone must have brought me here after the accident. Unfortunately, I must have blacked out from the impact of the crash, and I honestly had no clue what the hell happened between Carl and the rogue wolf that was chasing us. The one thing that I was positive about was that I must have re–injured my ribs, as I could feel the instant pain in them as I finally got myself into a sitting position.

Now that I was sitting up, I began to try to remember back to what had exactly happened, but the more I tried to remember, the more my head throbbed, and the pain was too much right now for me to bear. Either way, it really didn’t matter what had exactly happened, because there was no way to change the past, and I was now here in this cabin with whomever had won the fight between the two of them.

Knowing this, I tried pushing myself up to stand, wanting to move to the window to see if I could spot someone outside, but as I pushed myself to stand, my ribs definitely began to let me know that they were affected by the accident. A sharp pain surged through my side, making me gasp out in pain, while I tried to hold back a scream.

Unfortunately, I did a piss poor job of sucking up the pain, as a scream radiated from me, before I could bite down on my bottom lip. Tears instantly began to form in my eyes. impairing my vision, as the sound of a board cracking from outside the door made my head snap in its direction.

Chapter 186-1

Claim

Heavy footsteps could easily be heard moving straight towards the door, making me quickly wipe away my tears, before I began to look around the room, searching for anything I could use as a weapon just in case it was the rogue wolf that had attacked Carl and I last night. Unfortunately, the cabin was pretty much bare, but thankfully my eyes landed on an umbrella leaning in the corner of the room next to the couch.

Biting down the pain, I moved as quickly as I could, retrieving the umbrella before whomever was outside made it to the door. Just as the doorknob began to turn, my fingers tightened around the handle.

As the door slowly opened, I raised the umbrella in the direction of the door with a shaky arm, while I fought back the pain of lifting my arm. But just as the door swung fully open, the umbrella misfired, opening and obscuring my view of who had just walked into the cabin.

My breath hitched as my stomach turned instantly in a knot, in complete and utter fear of the unknown. But that fear only lived inside of me for a small brief moment, as a familiar voice says, “I see you are awake.”
