Chapter 157-1
Mazie’s POV
I had enough of Cash’s accusations when, in all reality, I had put my life on the line to save Raven. Hell, I didn’t just do it because she was my Luna to be, but because she was my friend. I knew that she would do the same for me, which she did last night, leading the rogue away from the bigfoots‘ camp, where I remained still healing from saving her life.
Of course, Cash didn’t even give me the opportunity to explain to him what had happened, but instead he was once again quick to point the finger at me, blaming me instead of himself. Deep down, I knew it was his insecurities talking, and I was trying to hold back my anger towards him, but damn, enough was enough with the blaming game.
All these years, it was apparent that he and his brothers blamed themselves for their mother’s death, thinking that they should have been able to save her, but in the end, no one, not even their father, could. I should have known that Cash would take his responsibilities to protect his mate seriously, but never in a million years did I think that it would drive him mad and steer him away from being the happy–go–lucky person that I had grown to love and respect.
Honestly, I was beginning to believe that Raven’s family had been cursed, as it was the only thing that made a bit of sense with the research I had done. Now knowing that the rogues clearly had witches on their payroll, I knew this wasn’t as farfetched as it may sound.
It all made sense with what Lexi had said, with Raven having to mate with all three of her mates before the super moon. Only a curse would have stipulations like that, making me believe that all these moons, Raven’s family members had their wolves suppressed, and her grandmother somehow was the longest living of her bloodline, some way surpassing the age the curse should have taken her. But in the end, her grandmother couldn’t hide from what was placed upon their family, ultimately leading to her death.
Unfortunately, none of that at the moment mattered, as Raven had disappeared last night with Carl. There were speculations about where Carl could have taken Raven to keep her safe, along with leading the rogue away from camp, but unfortunately, that was all they remained, as no one had sent out a search party to look for them.
Thankfully, their doctor was a kind man, and he knew what my role as a Beta was to Raven, leaving him with providing me with a map of the area, with places of interest that Carl could have taken Raven to. If Cash had just listened for a moment, instead of jumping to conclusions, I would have worked with him to get Raven back, but the way I now saw it, I wasn’t doing this because she was his mate and my Luna, but because she was my friend.

I knew that Raven was pressed for time, and I couldn’t allow her to suffer the same fate that her ancestors had suffered before her. It was time to put an end to this curse and also give her bloodline back the honor of being of Alpha’s blood.
Even though I wanted to shove my foot up Cash’s ass, I knew that Raven needed him, and in all honesty, I was holding onto the hope that once all this was over with, I would get my best friend back while saving my other one. At first, I was worried that I was going to have to do this alone, but as I neared the end of camp in the direction that Raven and Carl had taken off in, I was shocked to see Jacob sitting inside a sport utility vehicle.
It all now made sense how Cash had found the camp. It wasn’t because he miraculously tracked us down in the middle of damn West Virginia, hundreds of miles from Beaumont, but because he had Jacob helping him, which was exactly what I was going to do to find Raven before it was too late.
